ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; August 14, 2024.—The Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campus held the swearing-in ceremony today for Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade as the campus’s new president, succeeding Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero, who had led the institution since 2018.
Dr. Mendoza Andrade holds a degree in industrial engineering from the Universidad Panamericana , Guadalajara Campus, a Master of Science, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from The Pennsylvania State University.
In his speech during the swearing-in ceremony, the Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade outlined his vision for the future : “We aspire to be a community of people who seek and love the truth in all fields of knowledge. We are a university inspired by Christian humanism that encourages our students to fully exercise their profession with a transcendent sense of the tasks they perform.”
The new president of Panamericana University spoke about promoting research as a means of generating knowledge and solutions to the problems afflicting society, and called for a joint effort to “create synergies with businesses, the government, public and religious institutions, and the media; to better understand the realities of our environment; to broaden our social vision; and to promote research, innovation, and the economic development of our state and country.”
He spoke about the role of the advisor in challenging his students to think critically and in fostering their hopeful vision of the future
During her remarks, UP-IPADE’s President, Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, addressed the outgoing president, Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero, in recognition of his work leading the campus: “Thank you, dear Toño, for your characteristic good humor, which reflects your affection for people and for the work you do; for that quick mind so unique to you, which combines technical knowledge and years of experience with a warmth toward others; and for knowing how to prioritize the personalized attention that uplifts and dignifies others—a quality that is central to our identity.”
He also welcomed the Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade: “Dear Abraham, the new position you will assume is highly strategic, which is why I reiterate my support for you at all times and ask that you help me convey to the entire UP Guadalajara university community that here we educate and work with a specific purpose: to reflect, through study and professional work, the greatness of the human person, restoring that ultimate meaning of life in the pursuit of truth with an openness to the transcendent.”
Dr. Fernanda Llergo took advantage of the forum to send a message to members of the entire community of the National Institute of Higher Education ( Universidad Panamericana ) at its campuses in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Aguascalientes, urging them not to forget that our institution’s mission remains focused on the individual, safeguarding their dignity, and fostering freedom and responsibility.
Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero stated: “Looking toward the future, I am filled with pride to see that the new Rector of the Guadalajara campus, Dr. Abraham Mendoza, an alumnus of our campus, represents the fruit of our collective effort and a testament to the academic excellence we promote.” He added: “I have seen students become outstanding professionals and citizens, faculty members receive recognition for their academic work, and staff members overcome challenges with creativity and determination.”
The event was attended by Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, President of the Universidad Panamericana , and IPADE; the outgoing President, Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero; and the incoming President, Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade; Lorenzo Fernández Alonso, Director General of IPADE; Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, Rector of the Mexico City Campus; and Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, Rector of the Aguascalientes Campus.
