Mexico City, June 22, 2024.—With the aim of discussing strategies and innovations that can improve the quality of healthcare services in the face of current and future challenges, ESDAI Graduate Programs at the School of Hospitality of the Universidad Panamericana the Forum on Excellence in Medical Care: Perspectives and Challenges.
The event brought together experts in the field of healthcare, representing perspectives on hospital management, technological innovation, and medical communication, including Elsa Juárez Rojas, Director of Quality at Médica Sur; Enrique Culebro Karam, an expert in information technology and senior management; Carlos González Bernal, CPA, co-founder of Finventure; and Dr. Gustavo Rojas Velasco, head of the Department of Cardiovascular Intensive Care at the Ignacio Chávez National Institute of Cardiology and Medical Director of the ECMO Program.

Three Years of the Healthcare Excellence Forum
In her opening remarks, Mariana Basurto, academic director and head of ESDAI Posgrados, stated: “At ESDAI Posgrados, through the Master’s in Health Care Management, we aim to develop management skills that enable our students to create effective strategic plans that integrate clinical, administrative, and operational areas , with patient care as the central focus.”
He also added:“It is our pleasure to welcome you today to this panel, which we have now organized for three consecutive years and which has become a gathering place for our students, alumni, faculty, and healthcare professionals who wish to stay at the forefront of issues related to healthcare and patient care.”
He also thanked everyone present for attending, adding, “We hope to see you here every year.”

Pillars for Achieving Quality of Life
Dr. Gustavo Rojas emphasized the importance of security, quality public education, and universal access to healthcare as pillars for improving the population’s quality of life. He noted the challenges Mexico faces in achieving these goals due to the complexity of the healthcare system.
For her part, Elsa Juárez Rojas highlighted inequality as the major challenge facing the healthcare sector and proposed phasing in the processes and budget allocations for hospitals through a long-term project that ensures continuity across administrations.

Necessary changes to the healthcare system
Enrique Culebro Karam discussed the adoption of technology as both a challenge and an opportunity in the healthcare system, highlighting the rise of the digital patient and the importance of stakeholders in the system understanding this shift in patient behavior.
Meanwhile, Carlos González Bernal highlighted the lack of universal health coverage as a critical issue and proposed that private initiatives complement government efforts to ensure that health services are accessible and of higher quality.
In conclusion, the panelists agreed on the need to integrate technology, improve the quality and safety of care, and ensure universal health coverage. They also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to address the challenges facing the Mexican healthcare system.

Person-centered care
In closing , Amelia García Casas, M.A., dean of ESDAI, the Panamericana School of Hospitality, wrapped up the forum by emphasizing the importance of placing the individual at the center of healthcare services through hospitality that ensures quality and warmth.
Similarly, he emphasized the importance of maintaining an ongoing dialogue between the university and the healthcare sector in order to address real-world challenges and, in doing so, develop better strategies for professional training and institutional leadership.
