Mexico City, September 13, 2024.- The Bufete Jurídico Gratuito Social (BJGS) of the Universidad Panamericana y ReInsertaa foundation that provides support and protection for children and adolescents in contact with violence in Mexico, signed a collaboration agreement.

The purpose of signing this agreement is to join efforts and resources in order to carry out a collaboration for mutual benefit. It also seeks the joint promotion of activities that both organizations will carry out to extend their reach to more people.

About the agreement between BJGS and ReInserta

By means of this agreement, which is valid for one year, ReInserta has committed to inform and channel possible cases requiring advice in family, criminal and civil matters, which the BJGS will be able to guide and advise free of charge in matters or acts that are not within ReInserta's competence, exceed its powers or require specialized attention.

At the same time, the BJGS undertakes to represent free of charge in Mexico City the persons prosecuted by ReInserta, in those matters that require legal representation, prior assessment or review of compliance with the guidelines of the BJGS.

Both organizations agreed to promote and disseminate their pro bono training and consulting work.

About ReInserta

ReInserta is a non-profit organization, founded in 2013, that provides accompaniment and protection to children and adolescents in contact with violence in Mexico through three comprehensive models focused on psychosocial and psycholegal care: a) childhood and prison; b) survivors; c) reintegration.

This foundation operates in 14 prisons and internment centers for adolescents. So far it has achieved:

  1. Dignify spaces for children in five of the country's most important prisons.
  2. She has published six research papers on violence, human rights and safety of children and adolescents in Mexico.
  3. It has created a comprehensive care center for children and adolescents in contact with violence.
  4. It has promoted the maternity section in the Penal Execution Law, which recognizes the rights of children born and living in prison.

With the purpose of avoiding legal defenselessness, the Bufete Jurídico Gratuito Social has provided free legal advice in Mexico for more than three decades, supporting low-income individuals and families in the resolution of their legal problems.
