Students win simulation contest in Latin America

Aguascalientes, Ags. December 1, 2022.- Thanks to the talent of Joshua Gabriel Zaldaña Veiman and Hugo Yair Sandoval Toledo, students belonging to the School of Engineering at Panamericana's Aguascalientes Campus, and with the support of Mercedes Urzúa Gónzalez, Director of the School of Engineering at the Aguascalientes Campus, they created a project that was presented at the Latin American Simulation Competition.

Simulation contest

This work consisted of a simulator within the FlexSim software, at Latin America level, where the simulation of a problem within a corporate company was worked on, as a case in which a series of data and improvements were proposed to help solve the given problem.

Ad Astra

His team was called Ad Astrawhich means up to the stars, and they were precisely aiming for the stars when they went to this competition in the South American country. By having this mentality, their results were ideal; and they proved that with a clear objective and effort the fruits eventually come.

This project began in December 2021 and it was during the month of October of this year when the presentation was held, where the students were assured the first three places because their project stood out from the rest. Afterwards, they obtained the first place during the celebration that took place in Medellin, Colombia. Thus, they were awarded a financial prize and recognition by the private institution of this country, Universidad de los Andes.

"The case was given to the students, so that they could work on the problem and solve it. From there, the simulation was made, in which they proposed improvements. This was at the end of last year, but in the last few days they were awarded the first place prize in the city of Medellin," says Ms. Rocio Guadalupe Marquez, Head of Industrial Engineering.

We congratulate them all and we are pleased to share with the UP community one more achievement that the Engineering students have brought us in this school year.
