Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, February 16, 2026.— With the aim of strengthening the well-rounded education of its students and building bridges between academia and professional practice, the Universidad Panamericana AguascalientesUniversidad Panamericana signed a collaboration agreement with the Aguascalientes Association of Economists, as part of the swearing-in ceremony for the organization’s new board of directors.

This agreement represents a strategic step toward fostering education with greater practical impact by promoting direct contact between students and specialists in the business sector, as well as the development of joint projects focused on the state’s business and social environment.
Academic partnerships that enhance professional development
Dr. Montserrat Govea Franco, a research professor at the School of Economics and Business, head of the School’s Academy of Economics, and current secretary of the Aguascalientes Association of Economists, explained that this initiative stems from the need to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the professional experience of the economics community.
“The goal is for students to engage in direct dialogue with economists currently working in companies, startups, and public agencies, so they can understand how economic analysis has a concrete impact on decision-making,” notes Dr. Govea.
Among the main benefits of the agreement are professional internships at the Aguascalientes Association of Economists, as well as specialized workshops that will cover the use of INEGI statistics and the development of skills in tools such as R and Python.
In addition, the university will promote the organization of economic forums to analyze current issues such as geopolitics, the economic environment, and international negotiations, as well as the development of applied research projects with a direct impact on the business sector. This will be complemented by the potential creation of certificate programs and supplementary courses designed to strengthen students’ professional profiles.
The main focus is on helping students understand the practical applications of economics in areas such as business, finance, the public sector, public policy, and international trade.
Academic leadership at the helm of the Association of Economists
During the signing of this agreement, María del Carmen Corchado Reyes, M.A., was sworn in as the new president of the Aguascalientes Association of Economists ; she is also a member of the faculty at the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Universidad Panamericana .
The new leader shared that “this partnership represents a significant commitment between her two spheres of activity: academia and professional practice, while reinforcing her responsibility to promote projects that benefit both the university community and the society of Aguascalientes.”

He also emphasized that economics is an interdisciplinary field with implications for the business, government, and social sectors, and that the agreement will therefore provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the discipline.
Finally, he emphasized that this partnership opens up opportunities to promote academic projects with a social impact, such as supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), providing professional development for economists, and developing joint initiatives—including the creation of an observatory focused on compliance with the rules of origin under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)—with the aim of strengthening regional competitiveness.
Jorge Enrique Pérez Mar, dean of the School of Economics and Business, highlighted the School’s commitment to its mission of participating in initiatives that promote the advancement of professional practice and social development.

“The swearing-in ceremony represents not only a renewal of institutional leadership, but also a reaffirmation of the association’s commitment to rigorous analysis, technical responsibility, and contributing to the economic development of our state and our country,” he added.
Strategic Partnership for State Development
For her part, Dafne Viramontes, outgoing president of the Aguascalientes Association of Economists and current representative of the Mexican Federation of Certified Economists, emphasized that the signing of the agreement represents a step toward greater professionalization, inter-institutional collaboration, and networking—elements that are essential in a constantly changing social and economic environment.

He also emphasized that the Federation seeks to influence strategic issues such as the review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, promoting greater participation by economists and financial experts, as well as creating opportunities for women within these processes.
Commitment to a well-rounded education
Through this agreement, the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to a well-rounded education that connects students with experts, real-world experiences, and projects with a social impact.
Partnerships of this kind enhance professional training, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and foster a university community that is more closely connected to its surroundings, thereby contributing to the economic and social development of Aguascalientes.
