Context of violence in Mexico City

The discussion on violence in Mexico City encompasses a wide and worrying range of problems. In 2022, the nation's capital unfortunately led in the number of family violence complaints, with a total of 31,136 registered cases.

According to data provided by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), between January and October 2022, 110 violent murders of women were reported in Mexico City.

Of these, only 56 are being investigated as possible femicides. In addition, it is estimated that there were a total of 1,161 injuries against women and 95 cases of human trafficking were documented. In terms of emergency calls, Mexico City also ranked first, with a record of 287,089 women assaulted.

Direct and indirect beneficiaries

During the six-month duration of the project, which ended in February 2024, BJGS served a total of 154 people as direct beneficiaries, of which 110 are women and 44 are men. Importantly, this impact extends further, indirectly benefiting approximately 710 people.

BJGS, which typically serves around 1,500 direct beneficiaries per year, is proud of the additional impact achieved through this project, assisting an excess of 154 direct beneficiaries and 556 indirect beneficiaries in just six months.

The success of the Adiós a la Violencia project underscores the importance and effectiveness of collaboration between the private sector and civil society organizations in generating a positive and significant impact on society. It also represents a step forward in the fight against violence.

For this reason, the BJG is grateful to the American Tower Foundation and other organizations that provide support and funding to carry out these types of projects.
