150 trees planted in third reforestation of the Panamerican Highway

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; August 16, 2022.- The Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara held for the third time the University Reforestation in the Centinela Forest last Saturday, August 13.

The event was organized by the Social Commitment department of the Guadalajara Campus, from the Panamerican Life area, with the objective of raising awareness among the university community about environmental care, contributing to Guadalajara becoming a tree-covered city and also collaborating with the cleaning of the city's air through the reforestation of our forests.

A total of 74 people attended , including students, family members and University staff.

El Centinela Forest

The volunteers planted 150 native trees for the floor of El Centinela Forest, such as the Guaje, which is usually 3 to 12 meters tall, and is found in dry or humid environments; the Tepehuaje, which can reach up to 20 meters in height; the Guamúchil, which reaches between 15 and 20 meters in height; and the Mezquite, which can be found in the semi-arid zones of the country and is abundant in Jalisco, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and San Luis Potosí, being considered the official tree in the latter.

This event was carried out with the advice and follow-up of Bosque Urbano de Extra A.C. to assist the volunteers and for safety in case of any accident.

"In this event we had the opportunity to promote in the university community the importance of contributing each one as a person. The commitment we have as people to take care of our common home is one of the greatest since it is the place where we live and the one we will leave to those who come after us," said Ms. Ekatherine Acosta Demerutis, head of Social Commitment.
