Zapopan, Jalisco; October 4, 2024. Students of the careers of Industrial Engineering and Mechatronicsin collaboration with students of Civil Engineering and Architecturehave launched an innovative initiative to contribute to the care of the environment by creating PET pavers.
Inspiration and student engagement
Inspired by the constant collection campaigns of plastic product lids at the Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara campus and by Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Francisco Moreno Francisco Moreno, students decided to manufacture a machine to shred PET and generate raw material with which they would later create new products.
PET pavers: an environmentally friendly solution
This project has resulted in the manufacture of pavers made from recycled PET. Thanks to the joint work of Ricardo Sanchez and Armando Dimas, who supervise the engineering laboratories, they were able to develop an optimal mix to produce high quality pavers.
These pavers not only meet durability standards, but represent a step towards the replacement of conventional materials by environmentally friendly alternatives.
A green future for the university
With 52 pavers already completed and ready to be ready to be installed in university areas, this is just the beginning of a manufacturing process that promises to progressively replace traditional pavers with these new recycled models.
The initiative is a reflection of the students' commitment to a more sustainable world, pushing the university toward a greener outlook. green perspective.
