Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; January 20, 2026.— With a vision focused on educational innovation and the promotion of new forms of learning, the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes campus reopened its library as a space that is being transformed to establish itself as a dynamic, interactive environment focused on research and collaborative work.
This transformation builds on the university’s tradition of viewing the library as the academic heart of the institution and as a gathering place that fosters study, the generation of ideas, research, and the development of new knowledge, through an innovative model of spaces designed for collaboration, reflection, and critical thinking.
Spaces That Enhance the College Experience
The renovated facility houses the general collection area, which contains the printed materials needed to support undergraduate and graduate academic programs.
It also features a quiet area exclusively for concentration and reading; group study rooms and individual cubicles that encourage analysis, the exchange of ideas, and collaborative work.
The library also features a reading and research area with more than 200 seats, as well as a multipurpose section equipped with bleachers, work tables, and flexible cubicles.
In addition, there is an open-air cloister that promotes the overall well-being of users and encourages studying in close contact with nature.
This innovative layout design allocates 90% of the space to collaborative work areas and 10% to an area exclusively for quiet study, striking a balance between individual concentration and academic interaction.
Academic Dialogue at the Reopening
As part of the program of activities to commemorate this event, members of the Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees, deans, administrators, faculty, students, and staff—who together make up the entire university community—were invited to attend.
During the reopening ceremony, the dean of our Aguascalientes campus, Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, M.A., shared a message highlighting that throughout history, libraries have served as guardians of knowledge, as well as spaces that have fostered dialogue between generations and provided havens for thought, reflection, and the pursuit of truth.
“The renewal we are sharing with all of you today stems from a clear conviction: educational innovation is not limited to curricula or the incorporation of new technologies, but is also reflected in the spaces we design for learning,” he said.
Also in attendance was Dr. Manuel Bernal Coronel, director general of the library system at the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( Universidad Panamericana), who reflected on the current landscape—shaped by technological advances in artificial intelligence and its multifaceted applications—in which one might think that libraries have lost their relevance.
“It might seem as though libraries are losing their purpose; however, the opposite is true. In this context, the library is being redefined as an essential space for study, dialogue, and collaboration, where the university community can read and work as a team, ” he said.
Strategic Investment and Institutional Commitment
The library renovation represented an investment of 5.9 million pesos, reinforcing the Universidad Panamericana ’s commitment to academic excellence and cutting-edge education.
With the capacity to accommodate more than 250 people at a time, the library serves as a center for learning and innovation that fosters interdisciplinary research and the development of projects with a social impact.
“I am so proud to have been part of this project and to see the library transformed into a space for gathering, study, and collaboration, without losing its essence as the center and heart of knowledge. Today, it creates a new learning ecosystem that fosters new ideas, projects, and knowledge,” said Armando Alejandro Huizar González, M.A., head of the library.
