Intellectual property refers to creations that originate in the human mind and grants the creator exclusive rights to their creation, patent, or design.
Intellectual Property
Recognizing the importance of this issue, the registration of intellectual property began in 2018 at the Guadalajara campus Universidad Panamericana, with the UP’s first application to the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) on behalf of Centros Culturales de México, A.C. Just one year later, in 2019, 10 more applications were filed, and by 2022, a total of 20 applications had been submitted.

Good Quality Management
During this period, 18 applications were submitted to the State Council for Science and Technology ( Consejo Estatal de Ciencia y Tecnología, COECyTJAL) under the Intellectual Property Support Program (Programa de Apoyo a la Propiedad Intelectual, PROPIN), all of which were approved.
Two key factors stand out in this achievement. First, the caliber of the inventors, and second, the management capabilities of the Center for Applied Research and Technology (C ITA ) at the Guadalajara Campus, under the direction of Dr. Fidencio Tapia Rodríguez.
For this reason, we would like to acknowledge the following engineering researchers and inventors: Omar Jiménez, Luis Amezcua, Fidencio Tapia, Oscar Sánchez Barba, Orlando Montoya, Leonardo Valdivia, Friné Velázquez, Carolina Del Valle, Fabiola Cortés, Gabriela Durán, and Luis Alberto Rosa, as well as the students who participated in some of the projects.
Although the process for obtaining legal protection for industrial property rights—such as patents, utility models, or industrial designs—is lengthy, two applications have been granted so far, and the others are currently being processed.

Join the Community!
We invite you to join this “inventor community” and create intellectual property for our beloved Panamericana. The Corporate Innovation and Transfer Department (Dirección Corporativa de Innovación y Transferencia) and the Center for Applied Research and Technology (Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Aplicada, CITA) at the Guadalajara campus invite you to participate in this initiative. See the details of the invitation in our 2022 Call for Proposals.
