Mexico City, March 18, 2023.— With the aim of strengthening research and innovation capabilities at young universities in Latin America and promoting innovative strategies for collaboration between universities and key regional socioeconomic stakeholders, since 2020 the Universidad Panamericana has participated in the i2latam project.
Funded by the European Commission’sErasmus+ program , this project is part of an international consortium comprising 14 institutions from eight countries, including four of the largest in Latin America: Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Peru, and Portugal.

Exchange and knowledge
During this time, opportunities for knowledge exchange have been created to foster relationships with key regional socioeconomic stakeholders, while building R&D&I (research, development, and innovation) capabilities among young researchers and R&D managers.
The project has developed tools and methodologies to systematically map and align institutional capacities with regional opportunities, as well as to create and strengthen knowledge-sharing platforms. In addition, i2latam has launched an open-access training package focused on key skills for promoting regional and international collaboration.

Next steps
From May 17 to 19, the project’s closing meeting will be held at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), where the results obtained over the past four years will be presented and future strategies will be discussed.
The Universidad Panamericana proud to have been part of this project and to have contributed to strengthening R&D&I capabilities at young universities in Latin America.
Such initiatives promote regional and international collaboration and help integrate the region into the global research and innovation landscape.
