Mexico City, April 18, 2024. Universidad Panamericana is pleased to announce the launch of its new Digital Library, accessible at biblioteca.up.edu.mx. This project marks a significant advance in educational innovation, research and expands access to information services, resources and tools for our university community.
This significant event was coordinated by the Directorate of the Library System, led by Dr. Manuel Bernal, with the collaboration of the libraries of the Aguascalientes, Guadalajara and Mexico City campuses.
The inaugural ceremony was held simultaneously at each campus and was attended by the Library Directors of each campus: Dr. Carmen García, from Mexico City; Mtro. David Torres Hall, from Guadalajara; and Mtro.Alejandro Huízar, from Aguascalientes.
Virtual reality for paper generation
The event began with the conference: Virtual Reality for Paper Generation, given by Dr. Rafael Repiso, from the University of Malaga. Dr. Repiso reminded those present that virtual reality is still a technology with attractive and innovative educational applications.
He also pointed out that it is now much more accessible to every teacher interested in innovating and generating content, since the cost of an average pair of glasses is equal to that of a mid-range smartphone.
He also invited the public to use the Meta Questglasses and see that educational content can be easily generated, just as the entertainment industry does.
Adapting to change
Subsequently, Dr. Manuel Bernal, in his presentation, emphasized the need to adapt to technological changes to meet the demands of our university community, noting that 95% of the library's resources are now digital.
Jorge Peña, project manager of the project, highlighted the magnitude of the collaborative effort required to carry out this initiative, which included research, innovation and the recent use of artificial intelligence.
The event concluded with a presentation by Mr. Erick Ortiz, who introduced innovative services and tools available in the Digital Library, such as the Academic Networking Guide and LibGuides.
UP Digital Library Services
The Digital Library offers a wide range of services, resources and tools designed to meet the needs of students, teachers and researchers.
Among its features are the following:
- 24/7 access: users can access the Digital Library from anywhere in the world, at any time of the day or week.
- Quality content: the platform offers access to a variety of academic resources, including printed books, articles, e-books and pre-selected cases.
- Integration of services: the Digital Library provides additional services, such as tutorials, academic networking guides and current news, all in one place.
- Support for academic integrity: tools are offered to promote academic integrity, including the use of Turnitin and resources such as Aceprensa and Gartner.
- Intuitive interface: the platform has a user-friendly and easy-to-use interface, accessible from computers, tablets and mobile devices.
Ease of navigation
During the presentation, a demonstration of the functionality of the Digital Library was given, highlighting the ease of navigation and the variety of resources available. In addition, guides to academic networks and specialized resources were presented, as well as artificial intelligence tools for searching and analyzing information.
The importance of promoting this new platform among professors, researchers and students to maximize its impact on the academic experience was also highlighted.
