Mexico City, April 18, 2024.—The Universidad Panamericana is pleased to announce the launch of its new Digital Library, accessible at biblioteca.up.edu.mx. This project marks a significant step forward in educational innovation and research, and expands access to services, resources, and information tools for our university community.
This significant event was coordinated by the Library System Directorate, led by Dr. Manuel Bernal, with the collaboration of the libraries on the Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, and Mexico City campuses.
The opening ceremony was held simultaneously on each campus and was attended by the library directors from each location: Dr. Carmen García from Mexico City; David Torres Hall, M.A., from Guadalajara; andAlejandro Huízar, M.A., from Aguascalientes.

Virtual Reality for Paper Production
The event began with a lecture titled “Virtual Reality for Paper Production,” presented by Dr. Rafael Repiso of the University of Málaga. Dr. Repiso reminded the audience that virtual reality continues to be a technology with attractive and innovative educational applications.

He also pointed out that it is now much more accessible to any teacher interested in innovating and creating content, since the cost of a typical pair of smart glasses is the same as that of a mid-range smartphone.
He also invited the audience to try on the Meta Questheadset and see for themselves how easily educational content can be created, just as the entertainment industry does.

Adapting to Change
Later, in his presentation, Dr. Manuel Bernal emphasized the need to adapt to technological changes in order to meet the needs of our university community, noting that 95% of the library’s resources are now digital.
For his part, Jorge Peña, the project manager, highlighted the scale of the collaborative effort required to carry out this initiative, which included research, innovation, and the recent use of artificial intelligence.
The event concluded with a presentation by Erick Ortiz, who introduced innovative services and tools available in the Digital Library, such as the Academic Networks Guide and the LibGuides.
