Season of collections with objectives

Highlighting the values of solidarity, social responsibility, empathy and generosity, the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara, through the School of Business and various student groups, carried out the campaign My Green Commitment, a collection of bottle caps for recycling, as well as two campaigns to support the neediest people, in which a collection of blankets, pillows and toys was made to generate moments of joy for children during the Christmas season.

The Christmas Collection of the Universidad Panamericana

The Christmas toy drive was promoted by Enactus UP, the student group dedicated to promoting sustainability and social support from the business sector. For this reason, the group proposed the initiative of organizing a collection of toys and monetary contributions to later deliver them to children who live in orphanages, shelters or who are going through an illness or special situation and therefore, offer a Christmas gift.

In this edition, a total of 95 toys were collected, including balls, stuffed animals, Legos, dolls, as well as a skateboard, a computer and a stereo. Monetary contributions were also received to contribute to the cause.

Enactus shared that with these actions, "we also seek to foster in the university community the value of generosity and love for others [...] as a student group we feel a great commitment to our community and especially to the people who need it most".

The collection of pillows and blankets was organized by the Family Business Administration and Management careers.

The objective of this collection was focused on the practice of Corporate Social Responsibility, so the students had the initiative to design kits for the winter season, which included blankets and pillows to provide a warm Christmas to the children of the home Mamá AC, which houses a total of 120 children, that is why the goal was to deliver a blanket and a pillow for each member of that place.

Sustainable Developments through the project "My Green Commitment".

Finally, the My Green Commitment project arose as part of the Fundamentals of International Business subject, derived from the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and whose purpose is to influence society to change their way of thinking and living, generating a sustainable future.

The students promoted sustainable development in their family, professional and social environment by collecting plastic bottle caps to be recycled and donating the proceeds to non-profit associations in support of vulnerable communities.

The objective of the project is for students to understand the importance of the relationship between man and nature and the effects of this interaction on the environment and socioeconomic development, and also to lay the foundations to apply knowledge and influence society by example so that they change their way of thinking and living, generating a sustainable future," said Irma Patricia de la Torre Santos of the Academic Secretariat of the School of Business.
