Mexico City, Mexico, October 12, 2022.- For the first time in its history, the Universidad Panamericana participated and was positioned as the second best private university in Mexico according to the Times Higher Education (THE) 2023 edition ranking, which evaluates more than 1,200 institutions in 86 countries.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that for the 2023 edition of THE World University Rankings, Universidad Panamericana participated for the first time and was positioned in the 1,500+ rank. At the national level, it was ranked in the top 5 universities and in 2nd place among private higher education institutions.

About the methodology

THE ranking uses six different indicators to evaluate the participating institutions:

Teaching (30%): composed of a reputation survey conducted on all researchers with publications in Scopus (15%), the amount of institutional income (2.25%), the ratio of students per professor (4.5%), the ratio of doctoral degrees awarded among the total undergraduate degrees awarded (2.25%) and the total number of doctoral degrees awarded to academic staff (6%). This factor involves reputation issues, the ratio of students per professor and doctoral degrees awarded in the last year.

Research (30%): made up of a research-focused reputation survey applied to a representative sample of researchers who have registered publications in Scopus (18%), the measurement of research productivity through the ratio of articles in Scopus per professor (6%) and institutional income received from research projects (6%).

Citations (30%): number of citations received in the last five years of the scientific production in Scopus.

International Positioning (7.5%): Is measured by taking into account the proportion of international students and faculty (10%) and the number of international research collaborations (2.5%).

It also includes institutional income from the industrial sector (2.5%).

Thus, the position of our school is as follows:

  • World ranking: 1,501.
  • Position according to Mexican private universities: 2nd place.
  • Position at national level: top 5 nationally. Tied with other universities with the same value.
  • Strongest indicators: international outlook, teaching, industry income.
