Fortinet signs partnership with UP

Mexico City, August 25, 2022.- The topic of cybersecurity has gained great importance in recent years. Aware of this, Universidad Panamericana has signed a collaboration agreement with Fortinet Network Security Academy(FNSA).

The purpose of the agreement is to provide training in cybersecurity and to certify Panamericana's staff and students. In addition, the launch of an FNSA professional training program at the university was announced during the event.

Al Nasturzio, Director of Training and Education Partners and Eduardo Zamora, Vice President of Fortinet, were present during the ceremony.

From our university there were Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, rector of campus Mexico; Dr. Margarita Hurtado, deputy director of the School of Engineering; Dr. Lorenzo Elguéa, director of Institutional Cybersecurity and Mtro. Juan Carlos García, director of Digital Transformation.

Raising cybersecurity awareness

In his message, Eduardo Zamora of Fortinet, in addition to expressing his joy and pride for the signing of the agreement, said: "Faced with an increasingly hostile threat landscape, companies and public agencies in the country are finding it difficult to find the necessary talent to implement and operate their security solutions, which are critical for operational continuity today".

"Fortinet is committed to providing optimal support to educational institutions, such as UP, to provide the necessary tools that allow their students to increase their knowledge in this aspect, with virtual equipment, and everything necessary so that, with trained instructors from our team, we manage to promote the proper training of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals," he said.

Dr. Santiago Garcia said: "I welcome this agreement between two serious institutions, it is undoubtedly a positive message, since in today's world, migrating to digitalization is necessary and important".

He also stressed that "living in the world of digitalization implies challenges that must be addressed jointly by government, business, society and universities".

"Today, cybersecurity in the world needs to be addressed through interdisciplinarity, hence the importance of this alliance, which will undoubtedly allow Panamericana to train professionals in cybersecurity specialties," he emphasized.
