Zapopan, Jalisco; May 2, 2025.- In an emotional ceremony held in the Aula Magna of the Guadalajara campus, Universidad Panamericana awarded the digital badge Advisory Skills to 122 advisors for their academic and human support to university students.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andraderector of the Guadalajara campus of the Universidad Panamericana; Mtra. Daniela Oleaacademic secretary of the Institutional Center for Educational Innovation (CIIE), who attended on behalf of Dr. María Teresa Nicolás Nicolás, the Dr. María Teresa Nicolásdirector of this center; Dr. Ligia Dr. Ligia García Béjardean of the School of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Guadalajara campus, and Ms. Hilda Leticia Cervantes, director of the CIIE. Academic advising: key to university success
During the ceremony, Dr. Mendoza Dr. Mendoza emphasized that good counseling can mark a before and after in the university life of young people.
"Today we celebrate 122 advisors who with professionalism and closeness accompany our students in their academic formation, but above all in their growth as individuals. It is no exaggeration to say that a good counseling can change the course of a life "said the rector.
He also added: "Recent studies from Stanford University have shown that students who receive personalized accompaniment are 25% more likely to persevere in their studies and successfully complete them.".
Digital badges: a symbol of professionalism and commitment
Daniela Olea, on behalf of Dr. Teresa Nicolás, director of CIIE, highlighted the fact that the Advisory Skills badge represents more than a recognition: it symbolizes the commitment, guidance and essential role of the advisors as pillars of the educational process.
"Each one of you brings a lot of knowledge, being a guide, a listener and above all supported in human formation. From our institutional vision, we firmly believe that educational innovation is not only achieved with technology or with new methodologies or with new methodologies, but above all with committed people, like yourselves, who accompany and transform the educational experience."he said.

Dr. Ligia García Béjar shared her experience as an advisor, stressing that the true impact of accompaniment is built with actions, habits and character.
"The value of your work as an advisor depends on the entire set of actions and commitments you put into truly being a mentor. This badge represents just that, it is the result of the commitment that you have made, that you have already demonstrated by wanting to be better mentors"he said.
