Mexico City, January 16, 2026. – With more than 300 students from 20 educational institutions in attendance, the fifth edition of the prepasUP Model United Nations (MUNUPP 2026) officially kicked off.
The auditorium at the Universidad Panamericana Mixcoac Universidad Panamericana hosted this event, which has established itself as one of Mexico City’s most prominent academic diplomatic simulations for middle and high school students.
The main goal is to foster interest in public affairs and develop key skills such as leadership, public speaking, and critical thinking through dialogue.
Leadership and Diplomacy Training for Students
During the opening ceremony, the spotlight was on the youth leaders of the organizing committee: Patricio Pérez, secretary-general, and Aiko Heres, deputy secretary-general. Both emphasized that MUNUPP is an essential educational platform for addressing contemporary global challenges.

“This Model United Nations is an academic event that simulates real-world situations. Three months of hard work paid off in the success of this year’s event, which brought together delegates with diverse interests and diplomatic skills,”said Patricio Pérez.
For her part, Aiko Heres highlighted the personal impact of this experience:
“Being part of the MUNUPP 2026 Organizing Committee helped me grow not only academically but also as a person; leading others is a responsibility that requires well-rounded training.”
The event received institutional support from the administration of the Universidad Panamericana the prepasUP, who emphasized the importance of sound reasoning.

Panel and public participation
The highlight of the opening ceremony was a high-level panel discussion featuring guests of honor such as Congresswoman Margarita Zavala, who reflected on current politics and the crucial importance of civic engagement among younger generations.

Two days of discussion and consensus-building
With this opening ceremony, MUNUPP 2026 kicked off two days of intensive academic activities. The students participated in debate and consensus-building exercises, driven by their interest in international diplomacy and politics.
This event reaffirms the institution’s commitment to dialogue as the primary means of conflict resolution, preparing young people to take an active role in society and strengthening their skills for the future.
