Zapopan, Jalisco, August 14, 2026.— Sebastián González Valdés, a psychology graduate and former member of the soccer team at the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campus, received the “Che Correa” scholarship, an award that honors the educational legacy of Coach Jorge Correa.
Now in its fifth year, this scholarship aims to foster solidarity within the university community and provide financial support to alumni for expenses related to their degree, with the goal of helping them complete their professional education.
A scholarship sponsored by the UP Alumni community
The “Che Correa” scholarship was created at the initiative of a group of alumni from the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campus who decided to join forces to support other members of the community during a key stage of their professional careers.
The ceremony was attended by the alumni donors Fabián Monsalve, Diego Herkommer, and José Antonio Rodríguez, who participated as representatives of this philanthropic initiative. Following the formal proceedings, Fabián Monsalve presented the award to Sebastián González.
Support That Spans Generations
During the ceremony, Sebastián González Valdés expressed his gratitude for the support he had received and emphasized the importance of having the UP Alumni community by his side as he completed his studies.
“For someone who is in limbo—because they’re just finishing their degree and are facing uncertainty about what comes next—this support is a beacon of wisdom shared by alumni donors.”
He also acknowledged that achieving his goal of completing his degree is the result of a collective effort involving his family, professors, and donors.
“It’s a team achievement, made possible thanks to the support of family, UP professors, and donors who help students reach their goal of earning their degree.”
