There are bonds that don’t end with graduation. On the contrary, they evolve. Graduating from the National University of the Andes ( Universidad Panamericana ) marks the end of an important chapter, but it also marks the beginning of a new relationship with the university and with a community that continues to support its members throughout their lives.
Currently, more than 3,000 UP alumni live around the world. Their professional and personal paths have taken them to different cities, countries, and continents. Some left Mexico to continue their studies; others to take on new professional challenges, start their own businesses, raise a family, or discover new horizons.
Every story is different. However, one thing remains constant: the connection to the Universidad Panamericana and to the people with whom they shared classrooms, teachers, experiences, and values.
This connection gives rise to the UP Alumni Chapters and Communities, spaces designed to foster close ties between alumni and their university, regardless of the city or country where they may be.
A community that goes beyond networking
The purpose of the Alumni Chapters and Communities is to support graduates in specific geographic areas, both in Mexico and in other countries, and to create opportunities that strengthen their sense of belonging and their connection to the Universidad Panamericana.
At first glance, gathering around a table might seem like just another opportunity to network. And yes, building professional connections is an important part of these gatherings, but the community Alumni goes far beyond that.
At each gathering, alumni from different generations, majors, colleges, and schools come together. Some have decades of professional experience; others have just arrived in a new city. There are businesspeople, executives, entrepreneurs, researchers, academics, and professionals from various sectors.
Thus, the AlumniUP becomes a space to meet, connect, share, and contribute.
UP Alumni Around the World
In recent years, the School of Business and Management ( Universidad Panamericana ) has organized reunions with its alumni in cities such as London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Dallas, Toronto, Santiago, Chile, New York, Houston, Madrid, Berlin, Washington, D.C., and Singapore, among others.
Every community has a different story. Some have been around for several years, while others are just starting out with their first gatherings, but they all share the same goal: to keep the bond between alumni and the university alive.
In Mexico, this network is also growing stronger off campus. Meetings have been held in Puebla, Querétaro, Tijuana, San Luis Potosí, and Mérida, among other cities.
A network that continues to grow
Currently, the international network has a presence in various parts of Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia, while in Mexico there are communities in various regions of the country.
This map continues to grow as graduates move to new cities, pursue graduate studies, launch projects, or take on new professional challenges.
That is why every new gathering represents an opportunity to identify where the UP alumni and strengthen the community.
To belong vs. to participate
Be An UP alum also means having the opportunity to contribute. Some alumni serve as mentors, speakers, or role models for students; others create professional opportunities, welcome fellow alumni who are new to a city, or support University projects.
There is no single way to get involved. Every alumnus can contribute based on their own experience and circumstances. Behind the more than 3,000 UP alumni around the world lie thousands of stories that began in the classrooms of the University of the Philippines ( Universidad Panamericana ) and continue today in different places.
They are different cities, generations, and paths, but they are one community.
