Outstanding results

The students' presentation consisted of showing data generated by the hotel industry in Mexico City regarding occupancy, revenue, construction projections, types of hotels and target segments.

This is a competition that develops skills such as overview, analytical skills, oral communication, among others, which are required in the hospitality industry today and are part of the graduate profile of the Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality and Administration.

On this occasion, the students celebrated the 4th place obtained in the international competition, in which only nine teams, out of 29 participants, obtained a place in the final. The students managed to position themselves as the best team in Latin America in this edition, while the first place was won by Michigan State University.

The relevance of this competition lies in the fact that the competition itself, and even the presentation before synods in the final round, constitutes a direct recruitment opportunity, given that the synod is made up of professionals from the hotel industry.

Among the skills learned at ESDAI that the students put to the test in the competition were the capacity for analysis and synthesis, transforming data into a relevant and well-founded story, data and revenue management, the use of Power BI dashboards and knowledge of the international socio-economic context.

A satisfying challenge

Adriana Acevedo assures that this competition was a challenge, however, she indicates that it was also a great opportunity: "Competing internationally gives you a more comprehensive approach and the opportunity to grow with very different points of view, and what better than to carry it out with the Universidad Panamericana and ESDAI printed in our way of working".

Constanza Cruz agrees that it was a huge challenge "it was definitely a lot of hours of work and dedication to give the best," she says. But in the same way she assures: "I am very happy to have competed with universities from all over the world, but also very proud to have been among the top five teams and to have been the best team in Latin America. Thanks to UP for all its support!"

Finally, Melissa Sumano Barajas assures: "Participating in the Market Study Competition meant for me to get to know in depth the city where I live in terms of tourism, statistics and the sectors that lead the market. In addition, we were able to show the world one of our most important traditions, the Day of the Dead, representing it with catrinas and talking about the marigold flower".

To this she adds the fact of having had "the incredible experience of working as a team with my friends, innovating and doing something different and, above all, proudly representing Universidad Panamericana and Mexico".
