UP welcomes 90 leading Mexican lawyers

Mexico City, April 15, 2023.- On the occasion of the launching of the special lawyers' edition of the Líderes Mexicanos magazinemagazine, the Universidad Panamericana hosted the meeting of more than 90 industry leaders, among them the Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Javier Laynez Potisek.

A more than competent faculty

During the event, Dr. Fernando Batista Jiménez, director of the School of Law of Panamericana, Mexico campus, explained that, since its inception, the school has been characterized by preparing young people with robust legal knowledge and a solid ethical background. "It is a reality that our school has positioned itself among the best law schools in the country based on its competitive undergraduate program and a wide range of postgraduate studies," he said.

He emphasized that the mentoring and internship program offered to students, starting in the 4th semester, "has provided an optimal framework for permanent communication and feedback with employers, which has allowed the faculty to maintain an employability rate of over 90% (...)".

"Our commitment is to continue consolidating the school as a competitive option within the offer of legal studies in Mexico and Latin America, with the capacity to constantly innovate and reinvent itself to meet the ever-changing demands generated by the practice of law today," he said.

A better society

Afterwards, Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, rector of campus Mexico, took the floor and celebrated the ability of Raúl Ferráez, CEO of Líderes Mexicanos, to bring together leaders from different fields and ways of thinking in events such as the one held at the Panamericana.

Likewise, he said about his law students: "(...) to think about the work of the Panamericana Law School can be very encouraging, because (this school) not only tries to prepare excellent professionals (...); but also seeks to train students who are aware and seek to go a little beyond compliance with the laws, who try to create a much better culture for our Mexican society".

"It gives me great pleasure to think that there may be many people committed not only to that professional part, but also committed to that human fabric, that society, that center that represents the human person," he added.

Meanwhile, Ferráez, CEO of Líderes Mexicanos magazine, said: "Undoubtedly for us, UP is a reference in educational excellence".

He also expressed: "Since Líderes magazine was born, we have always sought to get closer to the men and women who are leading this country, who, with their stories, their biographies and with what they have done, the passion with which they have built their careers, become an example for other Mexicans to follow and find their own success stories".

Legal revolution

Next, Javier Laynez spoke of the responsibility that being a lawyer implies. In that sense he said: "The way of practicing and applying the law has been transformed almost to the level of a legal revolution, which is not exaggerated if we think about how we litigated or how we applied or interpreted the law in the 80s or early 90s, and we compare it with the possibilities we have today to be more creative and above all to judge with greater justice".

"Being a lawyer today is a privilege and I think it is a huge challenge for everyone, but we really have the possibility to be creative with the law, that is, to use all these instruments that we have today to see the law in a different way, to make a much more professional litigation and we are also aware of that in court," he explained.

Likewise, he concluded: "I believe, lawyers, that we have a fabulous perspective ahead of us, to continue making our career an instrument of justice and respect for human rights, for our fundamental values and, of course, as part of the Supreme Court of Justice, for our two fundamental tasks: constitutional supremacy, division of powers and respect for human rights".
