Zapopan, Jalisco, April 10, 2025.– Eighth-semester students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara campus took third place in the Third Social Security Marathon, organized by the Guadalajara, Jalisco Association of Certified Public Accountants. This achievement reflects the students’ high academic standards and professional commitment to key topics such as social security in businesses.
The winning team consisted of Daniela Ivonne Guzmán González, Jorge Roberto Castellanos Vega, Marina Velázquez Jáuregui and Brandon Yair Fragoso Zamudio, who were selected by Dr. Manuel Soto Pérez, head of the Academy and research professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universidad Panamericana.
A three-stage marathon
The Social Security Marathon put participants to the test over three stages: a 50-question quiz, a technical crossword puzzle, and a case study in which students had to calculate the base salary for social security contributions for an employee. This exercise assessed the students’ mastery of key aspects of labor regulations and human resource management in organizations.
Career Prospects and Comprehensive Training
With just a few months left before graduation, the students highlighted the value of these types of skills for their professional training in accounting. “Participating in the competition allowed me to recognize the importance of social security in the professional practice of accounting”, said Brandon Yair Fragoso Zamudio.
For her part, Daniela Ivonne Guzmán, who is pursuing a double major, emphasized: “These opportunities broaden our horizons and encourage us to continue participating in competitions that strengthen our technical and interpersonal skills”.
Training with a Human-Centered Approach
The participants agreed that one of the most important lessons learned was understanding social security as a key pillar in the protection of human capital within companies. “Caring for workers is not only a legal obligation but also an ethical responsibility that impacts the sustainability and productivity of any organization and its future development,”, said Jorge Roberto Castellanos Vega.
For her part, Daniela Ivonne Guzmán, who is pursuing a double major in Accounting and Family Business Administration and Management, emphasized: “These opportunities broaden our horizons and encourage us to continue participating in competitions that strengthen our technical and interpersonal skills.”
