Bonaterra Community celebrates its 5th anniversary and inaugurates a new training and social support building in Aguascalientes

Aguascalientes, September 8, 2025.— With great enthusiasm and the support of benefactors, families, students, and university officials, the Bonaterra Community celebrated its 5th anniversary with the inauguration of a new building that will strengthen its educational, cultural, athletic, and community support programs.

A social intervention model making an impact in Aguascalientes

The event was presided over by Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, President of the Universidad Panamericana IPADE; Antonio de los Reyes, Dean of the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Universidad Panamericana ; and José Ramón Medrano Muñoz, President of the Board of Bonaterra Community; Ms. Lorenza Larios Córdova; Ms. Norma Guel Saldívar, Secretary of the Family; and Ms. Luz Trinidad Rosales Hernández, representing the State DIF.

Lorenza Larios Córdova, M.A., the project director, emphasized that these first five years have marked the consolidation of a social intervention model that not only supports families in eastern Aguascalientes but also fosters their ability to create their own well-being:

“The community knows us, respects us, and participates in our programs. We have moved from an initial welfare-based approach to a model where the most valuable thing is providing tools, training, and values so that families can build their own future, said Ms. Larios.

Facilities serving the community

The new building was designed as a comprehensive space to promote community development. It features classrooms for music lessons (particularly for the children’s and youth orchestra), workshops on robotics, dance, culinary arts, and creativity, as well as mentoring rooms, an educational psychology office, and, coming soon, a legal office. In addition, it offers outdoor areas for sports activities and a library aimed at fostering a love of reading.

During the event, which began with a short performance by the children of the Esperanza Azteca–Bonaterra Orchestra, the presidium’s leaders shared their vision.

José Ramón Medrano Muñoz emphasized that this project is the result of a joint effort. This project is inspiring because it changes lives. It is an example that should be replicated, because what began as a dream is now a transformative reality,” he added.

For his part, Antonio de los Reyes Moreno noted that the Bonaterra Community is an essential part of the university’s social strategy. “This space is a true laboratory where people come first, and where our students learn that true professional success is linked to the good we can do for others, he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Norma Guel Saldivar, M.A., said, “As an alumna of the Universidad Panamericana proud to see how our institution continues to promote projects that transform and inspire the community.”

To conclude the event, Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay emphasized in her remarks the spirit of service that inspires this project. The Bonaterra Community is a living expression of our social mission. Here we learn that service is not optional, but essential to living a full life, she noted.

Five years of service and social commitment

The celebration concluded with tours of the new facilities, where children participating in the Esperanza Azteca-Bonaterra Orchestra and in arts and sports activities, along with their teachers, showcased their talents in the new classrooms.

Lorenza Larios also expressed her deep gratitude to the families, volunteers, benefactors, and the more than 230 student volunteers who, over the past five years, have contributed their time and social commitment: The Bonaterra Community is not just a building; it is every home that reflects the values we instill here. This project is possible thanks to the generosity and trust of so many people who believe in it, she concluded.

To mark this anniversary, the Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to a well-rounded education, social responsibility, and community development in the region.
