Don't blame the night

The concert DON'T BLAME THE NIGHT was prepared during nine months with more than 20 professors from different disciplines of the Art and Culture Department who directed the work of 52 musicians, 42 singers and chorus singers, 25 hip hop, jazz and folkloric dancers and 35 staff production and photography students.

The repertoire included 20 of Luis Miguel's songs from different musical genres such as ballads, boleros, pop and regional Mexican.

The musical direction was in charge of Professor Charly Calvillo, the musical sub-direction in charge of Professor Eduardo Lalo Hernández, the vocal direction in charge of Professor Alexa Ondarza, the choral direction in charge of Professor Carolina Esparza and the choreography in charge of Professors Gary Ochoa, Pedro Arredondo and Adalya Puente, just to mention some of the teachers involved in the process.

The event was held at the campus facilities where the stage was set up for a high level concert.

There were plenty of surprises, with the presence of special guests such as Salo Loyo -Luis Miguel's keyboardist-, Víctor Loyo -Luis Miguel's drummer-, singer Analy Gerardo -winner of the international OTI Festival and official voice of Mulan and Disney Latino's Jazmin- and Mariachi Imperial Azteca -nominated for a Latin Grammy 2017-.

The process of assembling our guests together with our students was very enriching and exciting because they had the opportunity to receive personal advice and share the stage with them.

"I am amazed by the production that I already knew from the university after having seen last year's "Les Miserables". To be participating in the project is incredible for me!" commented English teacher Diego de la Rosa who participated in the concert as a singer.

Sofía Aguilar, a business student and member of the jazz dance team, said: "We all like Luis Miguel's songs, so being able to sing and dance to them has been a great experience".

"The difference between being in a competition team - in my case I am part of the Hip Hop team - and this concert is very different because now we are giving a show totally for the public. It's about having fun, both for us and for the audience that is watching us," says Paola Valdez, student and dancer.

"Once again we can realize how art unites our entire university community. I am deeply grateful to all the students and professors who have joined this great project" commented Michelle Raimond, Director of the Art and Culture Department at UP Aguascalientes.
