The Art and Culture department of the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara is part of ICOM's international program to celebrate International Museum Day, 2022.
Zapopan, Jalisco. On May 18, 2022, International Museum Day (IMD) was celebrated, where museums around the world developed dynamics, special exhibitions, events and creative activities to promote interest in museums. The objective of this celebration is to attract people to open up and change their perspective on these places and take them into account as places full of learning and cultural heritage background, where history is preserved and remembered in a creative and respectful way.
International Museum Day 2022
International Museum Day is an annual event led by the International Council of Museums (ICOMOS). International Council of Museums (ICOM), founded by Chauncey J. Hamlin with headquarters in Paris, France in 1946; as the only worldwide organization of museums whose purpose is to promote and protect the present and future cultural heritage. It currently has 44,646 members in 138 countries.
In this 75th celebration, from May 18 to 22, the DIM invites thousands of museums around the world to unleash the power of museums, under the theme: "The Power of Museums" and as guest country: Prague. In Mexico, museums such as Museo Soumaya, Museo del Estanquillo, Museo MIDE, Palacio de Minería, Centro Cultural del México Contemporáneo, etc; provided free access to attendees for their exhibitions or dance and music presentations.
The Art and Culture Department of the Universidad Panamericana,Guadalajara Campuswas not left behind, and contributed to the DIM in a sustainable way with a series of hybrid activities that were also part of the worldwide program to celebrate museums. Among the exhibitions and activations offered free of charge to the public, university students presented take-overs on the social networks @arteyculturaupgdl with the aim of encouraging young people's interest in museums, while promoting research and innovation in art learning.
In addition, there were guided tours of the Panamericana exhibition hall, located in the Central Building of the campus, (including the works created with the artificial intelligence system "Raquel-IA") providing a meeting point between young people, the university community and the museum world.
