Objective of the Family Enterprise Case Competition

The main objective of the competition was to present a problem of a family business to students from different universities, so that they would be able to put into practice what they had learned in the classroom by making feasible proposals to respond to critical situations, and finally to have the participants gain recognition for their excellence.

On this occasion, the Panamericana team was represented by César Vázquez and Carlos Álvarez, both from the seventh semester, and Ameyalli Carrillo and Javier Torres from the ninth semester, all from the ADEF program; they were also advised by coaches Claudio Vázquez and Ana Cristina González, who have great knowledge of the central theme of the competition.

Due to the high level of demand that a competition of this category represents, the team required months of extracurricular preparation in case method, corporate governance, family businesses, case resolution and presentation techniques. All this with a great sense of responsibility and dedication.

Likewise, the University collaborated in the achievement of the students by providing them with tools and assigning expert advisors in the preparation process that helped them face this great challenge and position themselves in the finals for the second time in the 9 years that they have participated in this competition.

The Universidad Panamericana congratulates the students who were finalists in a world-class competition, and is proud of them for putting the name of the institution on a high level due to their great performance, dedication and passion that they put into practice in this type of challenges.

Likewise, he invites the student community to get involved in this type of challenges, and therefore acquire quality international experience.

More Prizes and Contests

The Silver A' Design Award was won by Alfredo Carreño, who participated in this competition in 2017 with his project "Etabu", within the Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design category.

This competition is a prestigious award given to only 5% of the designs that present an exemplary level of design. His creation Etabu is a set consisting of 3 benches that create the sensation of having no balance when stacked. It is worth noting that, by winning this award, Carreño was named the 19th designer in Mexico that year.

The second prize was the Red Dot Award, an internationally renowned seal for products that stand out from comparable deliveries for their excellent design or innovative character, which was won by Edgar Herrera Vega, IID Alumni, with his creation "Bladeless Drone", which is distinguished by the use of a technology that creates a safer flight.

Without rotors with exposed propellers, it uses adversity (such as headwind) to its advantage to regulate its lift, which stabilizes its engines for smoother flight by converting the wind into downdraft. The jury met in Singapore and chose only 6% of the more than four thousand designs entered.
