GIEF Conference: Women's Dignity and Human Rights

Zapopan, Jalisco; February 27, 2023.- In the framework of International Women's Day (March 8) and as part of the institutional campaign to commemorate it, the Interdisciplinary Group of Feminist Studies(GIEF) of the Institute of Humanities convenes the Second Conference of Reflection on the Dignity and Human Rights of Women.

This group began in April 2021, with the aim of asserting the dignity of the person in each of its projects, wanting to add its voice to the formation of a full panorama of equality and respect for all people.

GIEF has 24 professors from Panamericana, at its Mixcoac, Ciudad UP and Guadalajara campuses, who have taken on the task of collaborating with each other to study and discuss texts by feminist women who take up this vision of transcendence within feminism.

"We are women helping women; we are warriors, we are sororas, some are mothers, others are single, but we are all adding up" - Dr. Susana Ochoa de Rojas, research professor at the Institute of Humanities and part of the GIEF.

Women's Dignity and Human Rights

These GIEF days will be segmented during five specific dates with different themes, which are:

  • March 1: Inauguration. Law, art and recognition.
  • March 8: The dignity and human rights of women.
  • March 15: Education and women's human rights.
  • March 22: Gender violence and women's human rights.
  • March 29: The company, the citizen, and women's human rights.

These sessions will be held virtually, through the digital platform ZOOM from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on the days mentioned above.

Panamericana recognizes and congratulates their initiative in order to contextualize and inform the university community.
