The team began preparation in August 2022, the members were chosen under a competency-based selection process, in order to achieve a functional and compatible team, able to work for 3 months and overcome the inconveniences that they would undoubtedly have due to the daily coexistence. Those chosen should be willing to sacrifice weekends, family events, travel and also continue to perform 100% as students.

Based on the above, the team accepted the commitment, composed of ninth semester students: Laura Covarrubias López, Cristina Sevilla Aramiz; fifth semester, Ximena Tamayo Dominguez and Deolinda Lara Rosalopes, and Mariana Ramírez Sánchez from third semester. Supported by the director of the Talent Management career as their coach, Alberto Sevilla. "Our way of doing it was to divide the time in schedules thinking about the stages of the methodology to solve the problem; Reading the case, analysis of the facts, analysis tool, finding the root problem, possible solutions, risks and impact and finally, the economic part. At the beginning we felt very calm, but as time was running out, our nerves increased. We learned to respect time, to rest when necessary and to give our all when it was time to work," said Covarrubias.

Problem and solution

After more than 130 hours of preparation, the team declared itself ready to travel to Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana. The problem of the case to be proposed in 6 days, was based on issues of attraction and selection of talent for the company GE Aerospace in its Indiana plant, a real situation that the company is going through and that must be solved through a proposal based on an analysis of the industry and company, diagnostic tool, problem identification, solution proposal with financial support and immediate viability, risk measurement, exposure and sale to managers-judges and HR managers.
