Zapopan, Jalisco; December 6, 2022.- Jorge Tercero is an outstanding Alumni of the Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara, graduated from the career of Administration and FinanceHe is currently living in Connecticut, United States.
Pepsico
For the past 18 years, Jorge has been Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management at Pepsico, a world-renowned company that manages brands such as Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Quaker and Gatorade, among others.
"It is an area that is within finance and helps to do all the analysis of external risks and how that impact, trends, global environment that we are living today has to be incorporated into the company."
Working in world-class organizations entails many responsibilities and even challenges and it is something that Jorge has experienced firsthand, being in constant change in cities like Guadalajara, Mexico City, Miami, Dallas and New York, forced him to try to adapt to the cultural change, on the one hand the camaraderie and on the other the absolute seriousness.
"It has been complex to move, to move my family, to start networking, to start being able to create solid bases again to be able to do my work. How to work with the team, practically."
Being courageous and accepting different challenges was something Jorge always had in mind since he chose the career and even the Panamericana, connections with the financial world and always having in mind the desire to work in an international company.
"Well, it was with the purpose of being in a university that would give me a solid foundation, prestige, preparation for a goal I had, which was to leave Mexico."
Academic and personal preparation
The career in Administration and Finance was fundamental in Jorge's life, since it gave him an excellent academic and personal preparation, as well as great connections that in some way have helped him to position himself where he is today.
"That preparation that was given to us in the finance career, with the common core and then with the careers, the more specialized subjects, well, they really helped me to be able to have the basis to be able to do what I do today."
In addition to being a graduate who is extremely dedicated to his work, he is equally dedicated to his family. His day-to-day life starts at 5:30 in the morning and ends practically at 6:00 in the evening, during which time he reads a lot, whether it is news, religious books or books in general. He also spends quality time with his wife and children.
Having a clear goal is a basic advice that Jorge gives to the university community, that is, to commit to make sacrifices that inevitably come with success and also to be clear about who will accompany us throughout the journey to reach that goal.
Specifically in the area of finance, he concluded with the following reflection: "I would recommend going beyond what is being learned today in the career, but in line with the trends so that when the student leaves, he/she has a component and is prepared for what is being studied, but with a factor of a current trend of what in this case is expected of a financier".
