With the idea of forming a Youth Parliament to simulate a real exercise in the Plenary Session Hall of the Senate of the Republic, María Fernanda García Beltrán, a first semester student of the School of Government and Economics of the Panamerican City, was invited to participate. The team was formed by Cid Clouthier, Industrial Engineering student, and Sara Garita from Law, who invested 2 months of hard work for the organization.
Origin and organization process
One day María Fernanda met with the Rector General of Universidad Panamericana and IPADE, Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, at the Course Opening Ceremony in August of this year, told her about her idea and, from the beginning, gave her all her support.
Subsequently, he approached the rector of the Mexico City campus, Dr. Santiago García, and facilitated a meeting with the rectors of the Aguascalientes and Guadalajara campuses.
"The Universidad Panamericana supported us and provided the impetus towards the student community; the institutional social networking team supported us a lot in the dissemination and coverage of the event," he shared.
Once he obtained the support of the university, he shared it with Senator Ricardo Monreal Ávila, who was happy with the initiative and granted him the disposition and collaboration of the Senate of the Republic.
"One person who gave us a lot of support was Mr. Antonio González, Coordinator of Advisors of the Morena Parliamentary Group, who promoted this project and provided us with parliamentary services so that on that day everything would flow well in the session, just as if it were a real senatorial session," he said.
Once the organizational phases were completed, the choice of topics to be discussed in the plenary session was made. The students were divided by parliamentary group: center, right, left and citizen, which represent the parties that currently exist in politics, however, "the choice of topics was part of the political coordination board, which were real opinions that the parties have presented," said the student of the School of Government and Economics. Finally, these were placed within the following thematic axes:

- Human Rights and Justice

- Sustainable Development Goals
Call and election of students
Regarding the selection criteria of the students who applied to the call, the first requirement was to be a student of the Universidad Panamericana, since this was an exclusive event for our alma mater. The other selection criterion was the Political Coordination Board, JUCOPO.
The senators chose the best candidates based on the review of an essay that the participants developed, presenting a problem of their interest and a solution to it. In this way, 128 people were chosen, since there are only 128 seats in the senate, although there were also 30 alternates. In total, there were 200 registrations.

For María Fernanda and the university legislators, this experience was very enriching for their academic formation: "The fact of participating and saying what you think in the highest tribune of the nation, motivates us to get involved in politics and to do good politics, to leave all fears behind for only one reason: Mexico needs us", she commented.
The Universidad Panamericana is proud of this student initiative with a human approach and invites the university community to continue proposing events that contribute to form people who seek the truth and commit themselves to it for the good of their country.
