ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; August 29, 2023.- The event "Dialogues for Water" was held at the facilities of the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara, organized by the School of Engineering together with the Water Advisory Council and the Mexican Hydraulics Association.
Objective of "Dialogues for Water
The purpose of the event was to bring together key players in the water sector - academia, authorities, specialists and civil society - to discuss and detonate solutions that will make it possible to reverse the various problems and challenges that water availability represents in its different uses and its impact on social, economic and urban development.
This forum brought together personalities with experience, knowledge, interest and trajectory in the subject, who on this occasion shared information for the achievement, detection and awareness in two areas: water for social and economic development; and water for sustainable agricultural and agroindustrial development.
Panel of experts
Specifically, the event was attended by Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero, Rector of the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara; Eng. Jorge Gastón González Alcérreca, Secretary of Integral Water Management of the Government of Jalisco; Raúl Rodríguez, President of the Water Advisory Council; Mr. Francisco Mayorga Castañeda, President of the Water Advisory Council, Jalisco; Dr. Benjamín León Mojarro, National President of the Mexican Water Association; Deputy Estefanía Padilla Martínez, Secretary of the Water Planning, Land Use Planning and Management Commission of the Congress of the State of Jalisco. Benjamín de León Mojarro, National President of the Mexican Hydraulics Association; Deputy Estefanía Padilla Martínez, Secretary of the Planning, Land Use and Water Management Commission of the State Congress; Dr. Hugo Briseño Ramírez, Researcher of Universidad Panamericana; among other panelists.
"Water is a fundamental factor for people, for the economic development of the regions, for agriculture and for energy. Today, one of the great challenges is how to administer, manage and help ourselves with water, which is the most important factor for the life of nations and peoples," shared the rector of the Guadalajara campus, Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero.
Francisco Mayorga Castañeda, President of the Jalisco Water Advisory Council, stated the following:
"We've all heard that the wars of the future are going to be over water. Those of us who are here do not have that vision. On the contrary, we believe that water can be a factor of unity, of collaboration, of twinning between those who have it and perhaps have it in abundance and all of us who are looking for the vital resource to reach everyone, for the environment, agriculture and the industrial world".
