Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; November 11, 2025.— The Universidad Panamericana gathered for Giving Day, an inter-campus initiative that brought the entire university community together through various activities that promoted a culture of philanthropy and social commitment.
At the the Aguascalientes campus, the funds raised were allocated to causes such as Comunidad Bonaterra, which works for the well-being and holistic development of children in the community, and Talento Panamericano, a fund that supports students representing the university in national and international competitions.
A Global Movement of Generosity
Giving Day is a global fundraising initiative that seeks to inspire generosity and solidarity. Originating in educational institutions in the United States, this event emerged as an altruistic response to days of mass consumption such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Its purpose is clear: to promote the spirit of giving and support causes that have a positive impact on the community.
The spirit of Giving Day at the Universidad Panamericana
Throughout the day, there were moments of great unity and enthusiasm during three activities that reflected the spirit of solidarity within the university community.
The charity fair brought together students, teachers, and staff in a friendly atmosphere, where they enjoyed a variety of foods with the satisfaction of knowing that all proceeds went directly to the beneficiary causes.
This was followed by a discussion on philanthropy, moderated by Dr. José Antonio Lozano Díez, president of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Higher Education ( Universidad Panamericana ) and IPADE.
The panel featured Mtro. Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, president of the Aguascalientes campus of the Universidad Panamericana ; Mtro. Mauricio Duarte, regional director of Grupo Financiero Banorte and president of the “Oasis” board of trustees; and Mtro. Paulo César Mercado Luna, director of CRIT Aguascalientes. During the discussion, participants reflected on how each person, within their professional or academic sphere, can contribute to strengthening a culture of generosity and social commitment.
The day concluded with a charity dinner prepared by Sporos, a restaurant run by the School of Food Business Management, which featured a musical performance by the Comunidad Bonaterra guitar ensemble and testimonials from beneficiaries and alumni.
At the close of the event, theuniversity president thanked the attendees and announced the amount raised: $260,330.00 for the Aguascalientes campus of the National Institute of Technology ( Universidad Panamericana ), reflecting the commitment and solidarity of the entire community.
“We want our students to discover the joy of serving others through their talents. The gratitude of others is the greatest satisfaction we can experience as people. I am especially grateful for your presence on our campus, because it reflects your sensitivity and empathy for what we do and who we are,” said the university president.
A community united by solidarity
The success of Giving Day was made possible thanks to the collaboration of various university departments, including: Institutional Development, Alumni, the Office of Development, the Bonaterra Community, Operations and Events, the Business Hub, the School of Food Business Management, and Institutional Communications.
“This great initiative represented much more than just a day of donations; it was a living manifestation of our institutional mission. Through this effort, we strengthened our sense of community, solidarity, and commitment to the holistic education of our students and the entire university community,” says María José Gourcy López, M.A., director of the Alumni Department and a member of the organizing committee.
He also added: “Every contribution, no matter how small, now becomes an opportunity to transform lives and continue building a university that inspires, educates, and transcends.”. With this initiative, the University of the West ( Universidad Panamericana ) reaffirms its leadership in educational philanthropy and social commitment, promoting a culture of service, empathy, and transformation that extends beyond the classroom.
