Mexico City, November 7, 2025.— In a social context marked by division and polarization, the University of the Third Age ( Universidad Panamericana ) presents "RepensarNos desde la Universidad", an innovative initiative that aims to serve as a catalyst for understanding and a safe space for constructive dialogue between seemingly opposing viewpoints.
A gathering place for the pursuit of truth
Social polarization is one of the greatest challenges of our time, affecting even educational institutions. Against this backdrop, the University of the Holy Spirit ( Universidad Panamericana ) reaffirms its long-standing commitment to being a forum for dialogue centered on truth.
RepensarNos is based on the“unlikely dialogues” methodology, which consists of facilitating encounters between peers who, under normal circumstances, would be unlikely to engage in dialogue. These dialogues take place in an atmosphere of trust and freedom, behind closed doors and without the presence of the media, allowing participants—guided by expert moderators—to get to know one another, listen to one another, and, most importantly,“rethink” themselves.
“The goal is not to lecture or to seek immediate, conventional solutions. The focus is on bringing about a change in attitude in each participant through genuine self-reflection and an understanding of others’ motivations. It’s about overcoming the barriers created by polarization,” explains the project’s background document.
The First Forum: Rethinking Ourselves from an Urban Perspective
The first activity of this initiative will be the forum "Rethinking Ourselves from an Urban Perspective", scheduled forSaturday, November 8, 2025. This event will address the complex challenges of housing and development in Mexico, with a special emphasis on its urban centers, bringing together diverse and key voices on the subject.
This edition marks the start of a series of forums that will address structural and long-term issues, reaffirming the university's commitment to social service and critical thinking.
Two key areas: service and visibility
With RepensarNos, the Universidad Panamericana seeks to fulfill a dual purpose:
- To serve society by providing a neutral academic space where all voices are heard.
- To reaffirm its institutional identity by promoting a Christian, inclusive, and unifying vision that fosters consensus-building.
Each participant is encouraged to reflect on their own attitude, both toward the topic under discussion and toward the other participants in the dialogue. The initiative promotes self-reflection, openness, and the exchange of different perspectives.
With this project, the Institute for the Study of the World ( Universidad Panamericana ) reaffirms its commitment to being more than just a center of knowledge: a true meeting place for building a more united and understanding society.
