ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; April 18, 2024.- In recent days, the bridge team representing the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara attended the Student Steel Bridge Competition, where they won first place in the International Steel Bridge Competition and therefore, got their pass to the national competition.

Student Steel Bridge Competition 2024

This year's competition, part of the Student Symposium organized by Region 6 of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), was held at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, USA, from April 10 to 13.

The team, composed of 18 Civil Engineering and Management students, along with 2 advisors, faced an arduous challenge that involved designing, fabricating, assembling and loading a scaled steel bridge, following strict rules issued every year. The evaluation criteria included the bridge's economy, geometric accuracy, speed of assembly, load-bearing capacity and strength.
