Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; August 6, 2026.— With the aim of strengthening entrepreneurship and innovation within its university community, the Universidad Panamericana introduced the Pan-American Innovation Fund, an initiative that aims to support high-potential startups by providing access to private capital, thereby promoting the development of technology-based projects with social impact.

Strengthen the innovation ecosystem
The Pan-American Innovation Fund consists of the Pan-American Fund for Technology Transfer and Innovation and the Pan-American Entrepreneurship Fund, and is led by the Pan-American Entrepreneurship Hub, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Corporate Directorate for Innovation and Technology Transfer.
The launch took place simultaneously across the various campuses of the Universidad Panamericana, making this opportunity available to students, alumni, researchers, and entrepreneurs who are part of its community.

A model to promote startups
As part of its strategy to support entrepreneurship, the fund has allocated an annual investment of 4 million pesos, with the goal of backing between four and eight startups each year. Each project will be eligible, on average, for an investment of 500,000 pesos, with a maximum amount of 800,000 pesos, focusing primarily on companies in the pre-seed and seed stages.
The initiative is aimed at startups primarily based in Mexico—although it also considers international projects, subject to evaluation—and maintains an open approach to various industries, provided they incorporate a technological or innovative component.
As part of their investment thesis, projects must have at least one founder who is a graduate of the Universidad Panamericana , or must commercialize technologies and innovations developed within the institution.

A bridge between ideas and private capital
During the presentation, Dr. Juan Alberto González Piñón, Corporate Director of Innovation and Technology Transfer, explained that this fund serves as a tool for transforming high-potential projects into initiatives capable of attracting investment and generating a broader impact.
“The establishment of the Pan-American Entrepreneurship Fund is a way to move these ideas and projects from the conceptual stage to a very concrete reality. We want these initiatives to become real investment opportunities so that other private equity funds will view them as viable companies in which to invest and scale,” he emphasized.

Forward-Looking Business Training
This fund is designed to support technology-based projects, as well as initiatives that generate a significant social impact. In this regard, Víctor Hugo de Ávila Cárdenas, M.A., director of the Pan-American Entrepreneurship Hub at the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes campus, emphasized that this initiative expands opportunities for those seeking to transform an idea into a business venture.

“It’s a very valuable tool for our students, as it will give them the opportunity to access seed capital for their projects and business ideas. We aim to promote technology-based ideas with a social impact that contribute to a better society, broadening the range of opportunities from the very start of their initiatives,” he says.
For his part, José Ramón Barba, director of Corporate Affairs at the construction firm PEASA, emphasized the importance of these types of mechanisms within Mexico’s investment and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
“These investment funds bring certainty to the market, creating jobs and contributing to the greater good of Mexico. The university serves as a hub for training better entrepreneurs—ones with a stronger commitment to social responsibility and a solid foundation for future investment,” he said.
Fostering Innovation Through the University Community
Through initiatives such as the Pan American Innovation Fund, the National Institute of Technology ( Universidad Panamericana ) strengthens the links between research, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the productive sector, creating the conditions for students, graduates, and researchers to develop solutions with growth potential and high impact.

This new fund reinforces the institution's commitment to technology transfer, the creation of innovative companies, and the development of entrepreneurs capable of transforming knowledge into projects that address the country's economic and social challenges.
