Mexico City, March 15, 20223.- Investment in education is an issue that concerns our university and for which it is distinguished. Universidad Panamericana held a conversation with Enrique Majós, General Director of Compartamos Banco Compartamos Bancoin which he spoke about this important topic.
During the conversation, several teachers and directors from different schools that are part of the Panamericana community were present. Before beginning the conversation, Enrique Majós addressed them: "I have enormous respect and admiration for all the people who dedicate themselves to the education sector, it seems to me that this is what really changes a person, but also a society and a country".
Management functions
Enrique Majós is also General Director of Financial Services and General Director of Fiinlab and has held various positions within Consumer Banking at Citibank Mexico and Citibanamex. Despite specializing in the financial sector, he says that much of what he has today is due to the good education he received. That is why, together with his wife, he has sought to give back a little of what education gave him through support for different groups focused on education.
To begin with, he spoke about the responsibilities that managers must follow in an organization: defining a direction, building and forming a team, and coordinating the team. He also explained how important it is for a leader to make the team work and to have it prepared for any organizational changes that may occur.
After giving these points, he explained how relevant the purposes of an organization are: "we must go deeper in understanding the vision, mission and purpose of my organization, company or school". Subsequently, adopting a client's stance towards an educational organization, he revealed the factors that must be taken into account.
The skills he explained to the attendees were: professional training; depth of thought; ethical and human formation, two virtues he took to talk about how he, when hiring someone, relies on intention and motivation, which generates trust.
Parent's perspective
Once he finished his client position, Enrique Majós spoke from his point of view as a parent and also shared important requirements: he highlighted the relevance that children are receiving knowledge; that they are integrally formed in the method and discipline; that students are helped at school, a point in which he emphasized mental health: "you have to establish solid, close and strong human relationships".
In order to carry out all the recommendations he gave to the attendees, he told the story of how his wife, an example for him, taught him the importance of managing his time and energy well, on which he reflected: "to be able to perform I have to feel good and that is a challenge, because you have to give yourself space and permission to do what you want for yourself".
