Mexico City, October 24, 2023.— The Bufete Jurídico Gratuito Social A.C. (BJGS), founded by professors from the Law School of the Universidad Panamericana, and which involves students from that same school, received for the first time the Institutionality and Transparency Accreditation (AIT) granted by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi).
The Importance of the AIT
The AIT is an accreditation program specifically designed to serve as a source of reference and information on the management of civil society organizations (CSOs), while demonstrating enhanced transparency and accountability and a commitment to best practices in this area.
For the BJGS, which seeks to provide free legal advice and representation, as well as emotional support to victims of domestic violence and low-income individuals, obtaining this accreditation reflects the institution’s strong social commitment, as well as the internal development and strengthening it has achieved.

Community Support and Service
There are several requirements that must be met to obtain certification, each designed to verify that the organization in question is reputable, committed, and transparent in its budgeting and administration, and that it demonstrates its revenue is directed toward supporting low-income individuals— requirements that the BJGS successfully met.
The accreditation will raise the profile of BJGS as a credible and trustworthy organization. Furthermore, the firm’s donors will have confidence in the transparency of its procedures, which will lead to increased investments and, consequently, to the improvement and expansion of the services it offers.
In turn, receiving this accreditation has helped strengthen the law firm, since, in order to earn this recognition, they had to lay the groundwork for more effective operations, and, having done so, they will build on that foundation to continue improving as an organization.
