Mexico City, September 19, 2022.- The Universidad Panamericana, through Coparmex chapter UP, had as guest speaker Enrique de la Madrid, current Director of the Center for the Future of Cities of the Tecnológico de Monterrey and former Secretary of Tourism, who gave a conference entitled "Perspectives and Opportunities for Mexico. Perspectives and Opportunities for Mexico.
To begin the event, Ana Paula González, President of Coparmex university chapter of the Universidad Panamericana, offered words of welcome in which she thanked those present for their support for the first event of the semester for Coparmex UP.
Afterwards, the rector of the Universidad Panamericana campus Mexico, Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, again thanked Coparmex UP for organizing the event and de la Madrid for the space: "I am pleased to see the auditorium full to see their initiatives and to see them positively influence society".

Upon taking the floor, de la Madrid reflected on the importance of young people in our country today: "young people are a very important segment (...), there are generations that have to make decisions for many years to come and this is one of them, I am referring to all the young people who are interacting at this time".
Throughout his lecture, de la Madrid made several reflections on what is necessary for Mexico to have an economic take-off in which poverty can be eradicated and give a better quality of life to all Mexicans, based on the opportunities that exist in the country and recognizing Mexico as an economic power that can be boosted.
He also reflected on how the lack of opportunities in Mexico can be the cause of the growth of violence and robberies: "if we do nothing to help these people, then let us not complain that we live in a country with this level of insecurity" .
De la Madrid explained to the young people that Mexico is a country full of hope and with a great future, but he also said that the moment one stops believing in that future and loses hope, the country's opportunities for development disappear with them.
He also invited the students to raise awareness for future years: "I believe that in the years to come we must be aware that it is truly in our hands to generate the best Mexico that has ever existed and, as we are seeing now, it has its positive side, which is to raise awareness that we are allowing a very unequal Mexico.
To conclude his presentation, de la Madrid thanked once again the Panamericana and Coparmex UP for the space and reminded the young attendees that the future is in their hands and that we have to work together to achieve a better Mexico where the most benefited are themselves.
