Founders Week: UP celebrates the legacy of St. Josemaría Escrivá for the first time

Mexico City, October 2, 2025.—With the aim of honoring its roots and rekindling the spirit that gave rise to it, the Universidad Panamericana the Founders Week, a week dedicated to celebrating the figure and legacy of St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, the inspiration behind its founding.

Antonio Castro, MBA, Director of Campus Life, explained the significance of this new celebration: “Honoring our origins means appreciating the present, but above all, looking toward the future”

The initiative, which is intended to become an annual tradition, stems from the need to connect new generations with the university’s “deep roots.” “Doing this annually will allow new generations to connect with the purpose that gave us life,”, explained Castro.

A living legacy in the 21st century

In contrast to the idea of a purely historical commemoration, the director of University Life was emphatic in pointing out that St. Josemaría’s legacy is a living principle and a guiding force for the university community.

“His message of sanctifying work, striving for excellence with a sense of purpose even in the smallest tasks, and fostering people of integrity translates into concrete actions that shape our university environment day by day,”, he said.

Founders Week aims precisely to bring that vision to life for 21st-century students. According to Antonio, the week “creates an environment where that ideal is breathed, celebrated, and shared, helping students to internalize it”.

The goal is for them to understand that “any profession can be a path of service and even a way to encounter God”. Castro emphasized that this invitation is not only directed at students, but also includes faculty and administrative staff.

The Invitation: Pride in Our Roots and Excellence in the Everyday

The call to the university community is clear: “We hope the community feels proud of our roots by understanding a little better that the Universidad Panamericana part of the legacy of the vision of a holy man, whose mission was to remind the world that we are all called to holiness,”, Castro shared.

He added, “And one way to achieve this is through excellence in the everyday, in the ordinary.”

Speaking about the importance of looking to the past to build the future, he said, “Remembering where we came from inspires us to move forward, but not in just any direction. It goes a long way toward keeping us on track.”

A mission that goes beyond

Through Founders Week, the Universidad Panamericana only pays tribute to its founder but also reaffirms its mission to educate professionals of integrity who find in their daily work an opportunity for service and human development.
