SMART Center of Universidad Panamericana celebrates its first anniversary

Zapopan, Jalisco, November 27th, 2024. SMART Centera space designed to provide comprehensive support to students of the University of Jalisco, celebrated its first year of operation in Universidad Panamericanacelebrated its first year of operation at Guadalajara Campuswith a ceremony held in the Aula Magna of the campus.

This center is key to the academic, personal and professional development of students, and a pillar in the educational strategy of Universidad Panamericana.

An ecosystem for academic and personal excellence

The anniversary ceremony was attended by Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andraderector of the campus; Dr. María Dr. María de los Ángeles Padilla LavínVice Chancellor General for Educational Innovation; and Dr. Teresa Nicolás Dr. Teresa NicolásDirector of the Center, who highlighted the relevance of these efforts to accompany and support students throughout their academic life.

The Dr. Mendoza Andrade highlighted the progress made by the center in its first year and congratulated those who have made its success possible:

"The objective with which it was created.The objective for which it was created, which is to provide a service of excellence for the improvement of our students in their academic, professional and personal skills, has been significantly achieved, has been significantly fulfilled.. It is a great platform to build an ecosystem that empowers our students in their university career .".

Accompanying and transforming through innovation

The Dr. Teresa Nicolás, director of the center offered a reflection on the impact of university counseling on academic life, making an analogy with the crossing of oceans:

"Every meeting in a university consultancy is like the meeting of two oceans: two forces that can mutually drive each other to generate significant change, or simply fulfill a formality. It is our mission as advisors, therefore, to make these encounters moments of real transformation".

For her part, Dr. Padilla Lavín Dr. Padilla Lavín highlighted the importance of SMART and its relationship with other programs such as Talentprogram, underlining the need to change paradigms in education:

"The SMART Center and the Talent are indispensable because they require changing the mindset of both teachers and students. This change involves taking risks, tolerating frustration and constantly learning from mistakes. This is just the beginning of a trajectory that will take us to new horizons of educational innovation".

Recognition and reflection on the first anniversary

During the event, the following were recognized 28 advisors and coaches who completed training processes to improve their competencies, ensuring more effective attention to the needs of students. This recognition underscores the commitment of the SMART Center to the human and academic growth of the university community.

In addition, research professor Sandra Hernández Gonzálezfrom the Institute of Humanities of the Guadalajara campus, gave a lecture in which she reflected on the role of desire in learning, highlighting how it drives curiosity and intellectual growth.

A promising future for the SMART Center

The first anniversary closed with a Christmas toast organized by the CIIE and SMART teams, where achievements were celebrated and goals were set to consolidate the center as a reference in the community.

The SMART Center promotes academic excellence and educational innovation, building a comprehensive university experience and developing key competencies to face the challenges of the future.
