Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, August 26, 2026.— As part of UP MIND 2026, the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes campus hosted content creator José Ramones, who shared a lecture titled “Life Rewards the Brave” with students—a space for reflection on fear, authenticity, decision-making, and purpose.
Drawing on his personal and professional experience, José Ramones spoke about the path that led him to content creation and the lessons he has learned throughout his career.
UP MIND: Experiences That Connect, Inspire, and Enhance Well-Being
UP MIND is a space created to address a fundamental need of the student community: promoting mental health through meaningful connections. In this way, students can develop and strengthen their emotional skills not only through theory but also through hands-on experiences such as art, cooking, sports, and recreational activities.
“For this edition, we wanted to take the initiative to the next level. We drew inspiration from influencer José Ramones, who shared valuable insights to support students in their personal growth,” says Daniela Salazar, Integra UP coordinator for student groups and organizer of UP MIND.
The choice of José Ramones stemmed precisely from the connection between his content and one of UP MIND's key messages: the importance of being authentic, recognizing who we are, and finding our own path.
“We believe that his profile could foster a genuine connection with our university community and convey a relatable message, especially to young people who are constantly discovering and shaping their identities,” he notes.
Facing Fear and Taking Action
During the conference, José Ramones shared some details about his life before he began creating content, as well as the purpose that currently guides his work as a comedian and as a person.
One of the main messages of the talk was the importance of taking action; he emphasized that moving toward what we want requires stopping waiting for the perfect moment and daring to take the first step, even when there are doubts or uncertainty.
In this regard, he reflected on the way we tend to perceive fear. Rather than always viewing it as something negative, he encouraged the students to recognize that there are fears that can actually point the way toward a new opportunity.
“Good fear is our best companion, but we’re used to ignoring it because fear involves pain, and we don’t want pain. But if something scares you, that’s exactly where you need to go,” he shared.
Authenticity as a Superpower
Based on his experience as a content creator, another of the most valuable lessons he shared with the university community was the importance of finding and maintaining authenticity. “You have to connect with people’s emotions to inspire them and bring them joy,”, he says.
The influencer explained that, through his own journey, he came to understand that creating content isn’t just about knowing how digital platforms work, understanding algorithms, or employing strategies to improve visibility. The turning point came when he began to present himself authentically and stopped constantly worrying about how his content would be received.
This experience gave rise to one of the conference’s key takeaways: “Our superpower is authenticity.” According to the speaker, recognizing who we are and trusting our own voice can become a strength that helps us build both personal and professional projects.
Finding the purpose behind our actions
Another topic discussed was purpose. Rather than simply asking what our purpose in life is, Ramones encouraged the students to ask themselves why they do the things they do.
From this perspective, every experience can become an opportunity to get to know ourselves better and act with greater awareness. Even attending a conference can take on a different meaning when we ask ourselves what we’re looking for there and what we’ll do with what we’ve learned.
In addition, students and the general public had a question-and-answer session to interact with one another.
“As an education major and an artist in the Department of Art and Culture, I found José Ramones’s lecture incredible and deeply inspiring. I loved how approachable he was with us and the powerful message he shared about overcoming fear, taking action, and understanding that ‘life rewards the brave.’ It was a highly motivating experience, and I am very grateful to the UP for creating these opportunities for inspiration and self-discovery,” says Agustín Domínguez, a psychology student.
This reflection ties in with one of the goals of UP MIND, an initiative of the University of the Pacific ( Universidad Panamericana ) that seeks to support the university community in their emotional, mental, and personal well-being by creating spaces that allow people to slow down, take a break, and connect with themselves.
