Zapopan, Jalisco; September 12, 2025.—The Guadalajara campus of the Universidad Panamericana hosted a breakfast to thank its retired employees, an event that emphasized fellowship, recognition, and gratitude toward those who have been an essential part of the institution’s history.
The Legacy of the Disbanded Community
Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, rector of the Guadalajara campus, extended a warm welcome in which he affectionately expressed his deep gratitude and respect for the retiring community. He acknowledged the legacy they have left behind, emphasizing that the prestige and strength of La Panamericana are the result of their service, dedication, and the mark they have left on every person who has passed through the institution.
“I would like to highlight all the great service and dedication they have shown to all of us—to our students, to us who were once students ourselves, and to every colleague they have encountered along the way,”he said.
The Legacy of Christian Humanism
Dr. Mendoza noted that, thanks to the commitment of the retirees, the Universidad Panamericana keeps its spirit of Christian humanism alive, always placing the individual at the center of academic education and university life, and instilling in students a well-rounded education in values and principles that enable themto “gain a broader perspective in their pursuit of happiness.”
During the conference titled “Reaping with Gratitude What You Sowed with Passion,” Dr. María Elena Gutiérrez Rentería emphasized that the legacy of the retirees has shaped a university culture characterized by values such as hard work, empathy, generosity, and subsidiarity.
Strategy for the Future
In his speech, the university president outlined the university’s main priorities, made possible by the efforts of his predecessors:“What we are building today as a university is thanks to the efforts of all of you.”

- Support for the faculty of research professors.
- Modernizing Administrative Processes with Educational Technology.
- Adapting graduate programs toward an interdisciplinary approach.

During the event, a video was shown featuring testimonials from retirees who shared their memories and reaffirmed that retirement does not sever ties, but rather strengthens them.
They emphasized their mutual gratitude and affection, making it clear that retirement does not sever their bond but rather strengthens it, marking just another stage of life.
Attendees were also invited to join the project Memories of Lifeproject, spearheaded by the university library, which aims to document and preserve the legacy of the university community and its contributors.
Rector Mendoza concluded with a heartfelt message: “ Universidad Panamericana is your home, a place you can always return to. We await you here with open arms.”
