Academics: At the Heart of the College Experience
One of the key aspects of the college experience is the academic and personal support students receive from the time they enroll until they graduate.
This academic approach is currently implemented through Connect UP, the educational model of the Universidad Panamericana, which organizes learning around seven connections: with oneself; with teachers, advisors, and mentors; with peers; with the world; with innovation; with research; and with society.
Dr. Teresa Nicolás Gavilán, Institutional Director of Educational Innovation, has summarized this challenge by noting that today’s world demands an education that is “flexible, innovative, and global.”
The TALENT Teacher Center plays a role in this transformation by supporting teacher training, experimentation with methodologies and technologies, lesson planning, and collaboration among teachers. Innovation, therefore, is not limited to incorporating digital tools; rather, it seeks to strengthen the relationship between learners and teachers.
For Alberto Hernández, that closeness is a central feature of the model. “Personalized attention is part of the university’s philosophy and its cornerstone; everything stems from that—caring about the individual.”
For more than five years, the student-faculty ratio has been the UP’s highest-rated indicator in the QS rankings, scoring 83 points in the 2027 edition—an external benchmark that reflects this experience of student support.
What academic achievements set the Universidad Panamericana apart?
The results by discipline provide some benchmarks for the academic performance of the Universidad Panamericana.
In 2026, UP’s Philosophy program ranked first in Mexico and second in Latin America according to QS. Additionally, Computer Science, Business & Management, Law, and Hospitality all ranked second among Mexico’s private universities.
For its part, Times Higher Education ranked the Universidad Panamericana as the second-best private institution in the country in the Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Engineering, and Social Sciences, according to the institutional indicators published by the UP.
These results are part of an academic program that seeks to combine specialized knowledge with a well-rounded education.
How does research contribute to college education?
Knowledge generation is another component of the proposal put forward by the Universidad Panamericana.
In 2025, the University recorded 448 scientific publications indexed in Scopus, and as of April 2026, it had 161 active researchers listed in the National System of Researchers. These figures ranked it as the private university in Mexico with the second-highest scientific output, according to available institutional data.
In addition, it made its debut in the Times Higher Education 2026 Interdisciplinary Science rankings, where it ranked as the second-best private university in Mexico and among the top 10 in the country.
To be included in this ranking, institutions had to demonstrate at least 100 interdisciplinary publications over a five-year period. The National Institute of Health Sciences ( Universidad Panamericana ) reported 609 publications, of which more than 35% were classified as interdisciplinary.
This work brings together fields such as computer science, engineering, the life sciences, and the physical sciences to address complex problems from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Recognitions that take different dimensions into account
In the 2027 QS World University Rankings, the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( Universidad Panamericana ) remained, for the third consecutive year, the second-ranked private university in Mexico and the third-ranked university overall in the country, including both public and private institutions.
It scored 26.4 overall points, compared to 26.1 in 2026 and 19.3 in 2025, with improvements in academic reputation, international research network, sustainability, and international student enrollment.
Times Higher Education 2026 ranked it as the second-best private Mexican university in its global rankings and as the second-best private university in the country in interdisciplinary science.
In terms of environmental performance, UI GreenMetric 2025 ranked it as the second-best private university in Mexico, among the top 25 in Latin America, and 163rd worldwide.
Nationally, El Universal ranked it first among private universities in its 2024 edition. The results compiled by the institution do not replace the educational experience, but they do show that evaluators using different methodologies have identified academic, scientific, educational, and sustainability strengths.
An education that goes beyond the classroom
The college experience is enriched by opportunities to develop personal and professional skills at all Panamericana campuses. The SMART Center offers advising, mentoring, academic coaching, and workshops on time management, leadership, communication, and career preparation, as well as academic support programs and student projects.
For its part, the Pan-American Entrepreneurship Hub supports initiatives through incubation and acceleration programs, providing guidance to turn ideas that emerge in the classroom into viable projects.

How does the “ Universidad Panamericana ” promote internationalization?
The global dimension also translates into concrete opportunities. The University reported 213 agreements with foreign institutions in 2024. Added to this are exchange programs, international faculty, and COIL projects, which enable collaborative online activities with students and faculty from other countries. In the 2027 QS rankings, improvements in the international research network and the international student indicator reflected progress in this area.

How does the Universidad Panamericana t connect its students with society?
Engagement with society is an integral part of the educational process. At the Aguascalientes campus, social engagement programs have been in place for more than 25 years and connect more than 2,000 students with civil society organizations, rural communities, and projects focused on digital literacy, community education, and human development.
The goal is for community service not to be limited to simply fulfilling a required number of hours, but rather to allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems and participate in projects with long-term results.
From Education to Professional Life
The final stage of the cycle is the transition to the job market. Óscar Armendáriz Loureiro, B.A., manager of Career Services at the Aguascalientes campus, explained that the department prepares students in six areas: strategic resume building, optimizing LinkedIn, smart use of job search platforms, soft skills, networking, and interviews.
This program is complemented by job fairs, recruitment events, meetings with executives, and an intercampus portal that makes job openings in Aguascalientes, Mexico City, and Guadalajara available to students and graduates from all three campuses.
This partnership aims both to connect students with companies and to enable students to create opportunities on their own. Mr. Armendáriz recalled the case of a graduate of the Gastronomic Business Management program who, after enhancing and posting content on her professional profile on LinkedIn, was contacted in less than two weeks by a company in India. “When we focus on the process, sooner or later the results come—and they come consistently,” he said.
This support also helps students navigate a job market transformed by artificial intelligence and automated recruitment systems. Students learn to present their skills strategically, identify what organizations are looking for, and develop skills such as leadership, communication, empathy, negotiation, and teamwork. “True leadership isn’t about power; it isn’t about being the boss. True leadership is about serving others, ” emphasized the Career Services manager.
