Mexico City, January 13, 2026.—The Universidad Panamericana achieved a new academic milestone by participanting for the first time in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Ranking 2026 placing as the second-best private university in Mexico and among the country´s top 10 universities.
This international ranking recognizes institutions with the greatest strenght in interdisciplinary research—that is, research that integrates different fields of knowledge to develop innovative solutions to global challenges.
A strong showing in the global interdisciplinary research rankings
The 2026 edition of THE’s Interdisciplinary Science Ranking, 1,267 universities from around the world, 23% increase from the previous year. SeventeenMexican universities were evaluated.
What THE´s Interdisciplinary ScienceRankings measure
The assessment focuses on interdisciplinary scientific output, considered publications and academic impact in areas such as:
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Subdisciplines derived from the four areas above
To participate, universities must meet strict criteria, including:
- Be included in THE's World University Rankings.
- Having published at least 100 interdisciplinary science research (ISR) publications over the past five years— Universidad Panamericana reported 609.
- Having at least50 researchers in each of the four areas evaluated.
- Demonstrating activescientific output across disciplines.
Ranking methodology
Times Higher Education evaluates institutions through 11 indicators grouped into four key categories:
- Input (19%): institutional and industry funding for interdisciplinary projects.
- Process (16%): infrastructure, capabilities, and support for interdisciplinary science research.
- Output (40%): volume, citations, and impact of scientific publications.
- Reputation (25%): global perception among academics and experts.
Universidad Panamericana results
In its debut on this specialized ranking, the Universidad Panamericana placed 10th university nationally and was recognized as the second-best private university in Mexico, standing out for its strong performance investmentin interdisciplinary science research projects.
In addition, more than 35% of theUniversity’sscientific publications were classified as interdisciplinary, reflecting its institutional commitment to innovation and collaboration across fields.
