Mexico City, May 29, 2023.- On May 19, at the facilities of the global strategic consulting firm McKinsey & Company, the following took place McKinsey & Companythe final of the Case Competition Futuria. In its first phase, 203 eighth and ninth semester students from the five undergraduate programs of the School of Business Administration of the University of Mexico participated in the project, which consisted of 29 teams. About Case Competition Futuria
The Case Competition Futuria of the School of Business Administration, focuses on the development of key competencies that respond to the needs of companies, focused on comprehensive training and managerial action. It is an initiative promoted by the Faculty of Business Administration with the collaboration of the Case Competition Committee composed of:
- MBA Ana Mireya López Saavedra, director of the Bachelor's Degree in Business Intelligence.
- Mayte Alcelay Arcelus, Director of the Bachelor's Degree in Administration and Finance.
- María de Lourdes Torices Cárdenas, Coordinator of Student Affairs.
- Gonzalo Savid, Coordinator of Student Affairs.
- Claudia Nativitas, Liaison Coordinator.
- Paloma Aguilar Ham, head of the Management Academy.
Through this program, students have the opportunity to apply everything they have learned throughout their studies, presenting, as a team, the solution to a case presented by a company.
On this occasion, an imaginary situation was presented where the leaders of the IT company Futuria, asked McKinsey to create a 10-year decarbonization strategy for the country, to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The winners
During the competition, five finalist teams were selected and presented their proposed solutions to a jury of McKinsey & Company partners, experts in strategy, sustainability and finance.
SMOKEUP was the winning team of the 2023 edition of the Case Competitionwho won the following prizes:
- To be part of the group of applicants who will participate, in August, in the selection process for the High Potential Talents program. High Potential Talents McKinsey & Company's High Potential Talent program.
- A mentor for each student (Mckinsey Partner) who will accompany and guide them throughout the selection process.
- They will participate in various coaching and mentoring activities that will allow them to strengthen and develop their management skills.
- The faculty awarded $10,000 to the winning team.
This competition showed the solid academic background and talent of the Entrepreneurship students, as McKinsey members highlighted the high performance and commitment shown by the participants.
