Universidad Panamericana reopens Manufacturing and Design Universidad Panamericana

Zapopan, Jalisco; September 12, 2025. – The Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana celebrated the reopening of the Manufacturing and Design Center (CMD), a space that offers innovation, hands-on learning, and cutting-edge technology to students in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.

Designed by the Name Arquitectos firm and located next to the Cortijo on campus, the center pays tribute to Ignacio Aranguren Castiello and has more than 200 state-of-the-art machines for working with metals, wood, and plastics. This space represents a firm step forward in consolidating the university as a benchmark for quality higher education.

A tribute to Ignacio Aranguren Castiello

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, rector of the Guadalajara campus; Dr. Francisco Orozco Argote, vice rector; and Dr. Jafet Rodríguez, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Also in attendance were the children of Ignacio Aranguren Castiello—Santiago, Ignacio, Luis, and Lorenza—who were moved to witness the unveiling of the plaque in memory of a philanthropist and businessman who always supported the Universidad Panamericana.

Shaper of a decisive history

Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, rector of the Guadalajara campus, recalled the selfless support of Ignacio Aranguren Castiello to the educational work of the Universidad Panamericana.

"We would like to express our gratitude to Ignacio Aranguren Castiello and his family, because behind the growth of a university there are always decisive stories, and Ignacio's story occupies a special place in ours," said Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade. "His support never sought the limelight; it manifested itself in what truly transforms: in the professors who join us, in the students who find their path, in the projects that become possible."

When the Universidad Panamericana on his door, Don Ignacio didn't just offer advice or suggestions. He always went one step further. He got involved, committed his time, shared his knowledge, and backed up the initiatives he saw as necessary with resources. That way of responding has left a mark, and that mark continues to shape our present and will continue to do so in the future. That is why this center will bear his name.

A space to transform ideas into reality

Dr. Francisco Orozco Argote highlighted the importance of this Manufacturing and Design Center, led by Engineer Aranguren Castiello, in consolidating the professional training of engineering students.

"The campus has a high-quality faculty with scientific output that participates in international competitions, as well as graduates who are increasingly occupying leadership positions in industry,"said Dr. Francisco Orozco Argote, vice chancellor of the Guadalajara Campus.

Today we are taking another step forward in this consolidation by providing the community with new resources to continue its valuable work.

This center, equipped with more than 200 machines and tools for working with wood, metal, and plastic, is a meeting point where theory becomes practice, where teachers, with their guidance and experience, take teaching to a higher level, and where students transform their ideas into tangible realities. Here, the synergy between the inspiring teacher and the creative student becomes visible.

With this project, the Universidad Panamericana is reinforcing its commitment to educational innovation, applied research, and the training of future industry leaders.

A believer in education

During the ceremony, Santiago Aranguren Tréllez recalled the spirit of his father, who was known as the Engineer, in the places where he worked.

"There were many engineers at the company, but he was the engineer. Not just because he was the boss, but because he really was a great professional. He always said that the boys had to learn by doing things with their hands," recalled Santiago Aranguren Tréllez.

He strongly emphasized the importance of laboratories; he bought us all chemistry sets, Meccano sets, and materials for building things. I am sure he would be very happy to see this center. He believed deeply in education, which is why he always supported the Universidad Panamericana other educational institutions. He was convinced that the only way to improve and transform Mexico was through education.

An investment in the future

The reopening of the Manufacturing and Design Center at the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana represents an investment of more than 15 million pesos and consolidates the institution's commitment to innovation.

This space will allow students to gain practical experience with cutting-edge technology, preparing graduates who are capable of contributing to the development of Mexico and the world.
