UP Dance Project

Students from the representative group of UP Dance and students from different careers, created the campaign "Are you indifferent or different? Campaign that will be active throughout the month of March to promote respect and healthy self-esteem for women. An important and urgent task that must be addressed.

Mafer Gonzalez, Innovation and Design Engineering student and lead scholar of the UP Dance representative group commented, "We want to call for reflection on attitudes towards ourselves. The respect we give to others is a reflection of our inner self." The campaign was inaugurated last March 8 at 8:00 a.m., with information points distributed throughout the campus and will culminate on March 29 with "Indifferent", an event that expects more than a thousand people as audience.

It is a staging of contemporary dance, which through music, objects and play of lights, want to take you to a deep reflection on the various situations that women live in today. This project emerged in mid 2022 with the active participation of the "Consejo de la Mujer en las Artes".

"To generate a change as a society, the solution is not to be indifferent, we must begin by creating a change in ourselves", were the words of Ms. Elizabeth Cortés, teacher of the representative group of UP Dance.

It is important to start by educating, raising society's awareness of values such as empathy, commitment, tolerance and respect for women. It is also very important to support women in their achievements and challenges, recognizing their talents and abilities, and valuing their contribution in all areas of society.

We must work together to create an environment of respect and tolerance, where women can fully develop and achieve their goals and objectives! And you, are you indifferent or different?
