Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, September 15, 2026.— For the second time, students, alumni, and staff from the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes campustook part in an intensive week of musical theater training in New York City, where they had the opportunity to learn from Broadway professionals, explore the behind-the-scenes areas of major productions, and engage with the city’s cultural icons.
Musical Theater Training with Broadway Professionals
This initiative is part of a collaboration between theUniversidad Panamericana , and R. Evolución Latina, a New York-based organization dedicated to creating opportunities for growth and education for Latin American youth and adults through art.
As part of this international experience, participants received intensive training in various disciplines essential to musical theater, directly from artists and professionals in the New York theater scene. In the area of acting, they participated in a session led by Rick Negron, an actor from *Buena Vista Social Club*; while Alex Senior led the vocal training.
The dance training included the participation of Ralphie Rivera, also a member of the Buena Vista Social Club, and Gabriel García, Dance Captain of *Chicago*. In addition, Rosalba Rolón taught a “punto de origen” class, providing participants with new tools for their stage performance.
As part of the program, a panel discussion was also held featuring prominent Broadway professionals, including Luis Salgado, co-founder of R.Evolución Latina; Rodney Ingram and Sonia Monroy, cast members of *Aladdin*; and other guests connected to the musical theater industry.
“Having this experience in New York with R. Eevolución Latina was simply wonderful. I loved being able to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zone in singing, dancing, and acting, guided by top-notch instructors and, on top of that, alongside actors who are currently performing on Broadway! Having the privilege of spending time with them, getting their tips, and learning directly from their experience was incredible,” says Paulina Talamantes, Arts and Culture Coordinator.
A Look at the Work Behind the Scenes
One of the most memorable moments of this experience for the Art and Culture team was the opportunity to tour two backstage areas on Broadway.
This experience allowed participants to gain firsthand insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes of major stage productions and to appreciate the discipline, coordination, and professionalism required to make each performance possible.
In addition, participants attended Broadway shows and visited iconic cultural venues in New York, such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET) and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, thereby broadening their perspectives on the various expressions of art and culture.

You’ve revolutionized my life, and the only thing I can do in return is prepare to revolutionize the lives of others. Thank you very much, R.Evolución Latina,” says Agustín Domínguez, a psychology student.
Cultural exchange as part of a well-rounded education
This experience enriched the artistic education of the university community by giving its members the opportunity to learn directly from professionals in the Broadway theater world and to gain insight into different perspectives on theatrical creation.
Gaining exposure to this professional environment helped me recognize the importance of preparation, discipline, collaborative work, and excellence as fundamental elements of artistic development.
Furthermore, the partnership with R.Evolución Latina represents an important step in strengthening international cultural exchange at the Universidad Panamericana, as it opens up new opportunities for collaboration and training for students, alumni, and faculty.
Through experiences like these, the Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom, creating spaces where its community can develop its talents, engage with new cultural expressions, and broaden its horizons.
