Panamerican ready for ICPC regional stage

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; November 4, 2022.- For the third consecutive year, the students of Systems Engineering and Computer Graphics students compete in the competition The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). This is the most important programming contest in the world and this year Panamericana campus Guadalajara has two teams selected to participate at the regional level.

This event is of great importance, it has existed for 50 years and is characterized by providing experience and knowledge to its competitors. It consists of solving sets of logic, mathematics and programming problems in the shortest possible time. It encourages creativity, teamwork and innovation in the creation of new software programs and allows students to test their ability to perform under pressure. ICPC has raised the aspirations and performance of generations of the world's problem solvers in computer science and engineering.

In Mexico, 338 teams competed during three dates, of which 47 were selected to compete at the regional level and from there for a pass to the world championship.

Only a maximum of two teams per institution are selected and, for the second consecutive year, the UP Guadalajara campus managed to qualify its two teams.

Selected

Those selected are "Software Chasers", composed of: Hector Manuel Eguiarte Carlos,Regina Ochoa Gispert and Eduardo Ulises Martinez Vaca; and Hololive, integrated by: Damian Lopez Virgen, Juan Enrique Luna Garcia, Jonathan Oswualdo Cuevas Jimenez. Both are coached by Dr. Miguel Alcaraz who directs the Problem Solving Club at the School of Engineering.

The Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara congratulates and wishes the selected teams the best of luck in the regional stage, which will take place during the month of March 2023.
