Three Panamericana women academics obtain doctorates

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; April 25, 2023. Universidad PanamericanaThe training of its staff and research have always been a priority issue; that is why, fulfilling part of its objectives to promote academic excellence, the university is proud of the doctoral degree obtained by professors Sandra Hernández, Luz María Álvarez and Anushka Álvarez, who besides being excellent teachers, have now begun a career that will surely be very fruitful in the field of research.

With the university degrees obtained by the female professors, Panamericana Guadalajara now has a total of 186 PhDs, of which 58 are women, equivalent to 34%.

Dr. Anushka

Anushka Álvarez, a member of the School of Economics and Business Administration, obtained her doctorate degree in Law, Government and Public Policy, specializing in International Relations, from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

Three new female doctors join the Universidad Panamericana

For Dr. Anushka, obtaining her doctorate leaves her with the "enormous satisfaction of a personal and professional challenge fulfilled". She also states that she is "motivated by the knowledge that obtaining the degree has been nothing more than the 'starting pistol' and the beginning of a new stage of learning and research".

Dr. Sandra

Sandra Hernández, a member of the Institute of Humanities, obtained her doctorate degree in Philosophy in Barcelona. Her research deals with the role of desires in the achievement of human excellence.

For Dr. Sandra, this doctorate represents an "intellectual adventure in which I have enjoyed and learned more than what is written.The experience of a well-focused and sustained intellectual endeavor during four years is an experience shared with those who have supported me and have understood and valued this project, and from this a new type of very deep and valuable friendships is generated".

Dr. Luz Maria

Finally, Dr. Luz María Álvarez, from the Institute of Humanities, obtained her doctorate degree in History of Thought at Universidad Panamericana Campus Ciudad de México. The title of her thesis is "Ratio/verbum y finis aristotélicos en De anima y De caelo de Alonso de la Veracruz".

For Dr. Luz María, this doctorate was "Undoubtedly the most intense, complex and fascinating professional challenge of my life. With the ingredient of the first pandemic in history, I learned to read books and digital articles, to teach online classes to four groups, to participate in three online congresses and to attend the emergencies that arose due to the pandemic itself".
